I'll like to wish you all an Happy New Year , i hope the New Year will bring you all good luck and happieness and peace. I haven't posted much in the last 2 days because I've been both working and I've been stricken with my first migraine in 11 months on Wednesday night. I'm kinda used to the migraines being kinda bad, but this one the after affects are lingering a lot harder and longer than usual. I feel like I've been in a massive head trauma car wreck and feel I'm just a step above drooling. I do go through a period of blindness when I first come down with a migraine and it goes away in about 30 minutes followed by the migraine itself and then the after affects. I knew it was bad because when I regained my full sight back I was trying to read things online and even though I could make out individual words, the sentences the words made would not make absolutely any sense to me. Typically my migraines are 2 day events. The day of the migraine itself and the day after. I'm on day #3 now and I feel horrible. I'm trying to stay up to ring in the New Year, but I may end up turning in early. I don't know. Waiting on dinner now which is nauseating me with the thought of it as much as I feel like I need to eat. Sorry to be such a killjoy. Certainly not the way I wanted to bring in the new year. I've seen lots of conversations on here I want to take a bigger part in, but I've been too pukey feeling to say much. 2010 was a great year for Comic Crack. I want to thank all of you guys and hope we fight and talk about things a lot more in 2011. I'm really looking forward to bigger and better things from all of us. You guys make me love having this board. Once again, a heartfelt thank you and god bless.

My balls.
I don't know why, but I felt like saying that. It might be the onset of Tourette's syndrome. I feel better now.

"G" HAve you been to the doctor about those things? You have been getting them since we were 11 or 12. Yes indeed, I have had these since I was 12 (good memory). They have definitely been like a demon existing inside me because when I get them, I feel completely debilitated. It used to be the worst part was the headache and blindness during the migraine. Now the after affects are becoming far worse as I feel like someone who crashed into a wall in a car and suffered brain injuries. This last migraine was really bad for after affects. I'm still feeling it today, although I feel slightly better. I went to the doctor about my migraines because in 2008 I was having them almost every 3 days. Thats when they said I had sleep apnea and it was a contributor. Im now on the machine and I take multiple medications. As I said, I went 11 months without a migraine. I was ready to celebrate a year and suddenly I was on the computer the other night and started going blind (always my first symptom). If I can only have them once every 11 months, I'll deal with it. In 2008 I couldn't make it a week. The problem is, this after affect this time has been about the worst ever. I troubleshoot for a living and I honestly feel retarded now. My speech and thought process seems very bruised. I'm not myself for sure. I should be alright in a few more days....

The going blind and what you said about having the after affect doesn't sound good bro. I hope you get to be yourself again soon. Take it easy for the rest of the weekend.

G, Have you had your blood sugar checked? or does the doctor always assume that's not a problem? df1

On average I had been averaging 4-8 migraines a year, then abruptly in 2008 I had a tremendous outbreak of them, sometimes daily. This also coincides when I quit my job, so perhaps the stress had a bit to do with it. This was my 2nd flare up of real active migraines in the last few years. I got diagnosed with moderately high blood pressure and possibly diabetic. I was told if I had blood readings like I had that time, I would be a confirmed diabetic. I was put on medications and I got more serious about losing weight. I've lost about 20 lbs. It doesn't seem like much, but it's been quite a victory for me. I'm reaching for more. I was sent to a neurologist. Had MRI's done and was given 2 sleep studies. I was told I had severe sleep apnea and was a very high risk for a stroke. Through medication, exercise and the sleep machine, I had a fantastic year with only one migraine last January. I've actually slept better than I ever knew I was missing. Once you realize how good it is to really sleep, you see just how poorly you were sleeping. I am a chronic night owl and I sleep very little.
I'm not complaining that I had a migraine a few days ago. I'm just saying the after affects have kicked my ass worse than most this time. I knew when I couldn't read while I was experiencing it, I was having a bad one. I'm hoping I just had one because I was overdue. I think I'm finally feeling just about over it. I felt kind of bad this morning, but I've been feeling better as the day progressed. The previous 2 days I felt like I just wanted to lay around and drool.
Sorry I painted a bad picture. Just had a bad moment and it came out. I've been through this for over 30 years now, so I'll just chalk it up as one of the more difficult ones and I'm back to being fine now.

When I was last at the doctor for a headache in 2007 (?) or so, my blood sugar was at 400. I had other health problems at the time which contributed to the spike. df1
