I'll rate these in order. Some of them I do like to a degree, but not many...so in order, here we go.
All Star Superman - Any 10 cent comic artist could or should be able to do this. Pose POS cover.
Afrodisiac - A close up of a face with a girl in eyeglasses? Come on!
American Vampire - A very simple headshot. Nothing more.
Amazing Spiderman - I almost like this one, but in reality, this is simply a pose shot of Mystero.
Amazing Spiderman - One of the better shots from inside creatures mouth looking out at Spiderman holding a tail. This is better, but it looks a bit sloppy. At least it might be a bit insightful.
Amazing Spiderman - Okay, I get the mystery in the cover, but overall, this is a boring cover that appears a bit pose/posterized. Its NOT compelling me to buy. Why? Just because I can't see the face? Big deal. It's lame.
Astro City - Can you say Poster Shot? What does this say about the inside? Compared to what covers used to say.....not much.
Avengers - It's clean work, but in reality, this is just another say nothing pose cover.
Baltimore - How many times have we seen a cover like this from Mignola? Yawn.
Batwoman - I actually own this book. Its got that cheesy poseness going as well. The one thing I do like about it is it has like a roaring 20's vibe about it. But otherwise, this is really, just a pose.
Batman - Jumping down....is this saying anything about the insides? You know what makes this cover more interesting? The text "Death at 3 million feet". Thank goodness for the text. Without the text, this is crapolla.
Buffy - I guess that's good. But it looks too much like a Dark Horse book, so as usual, it looks boring. Doesn't tell me anything.
Chew - Chicken head. Okay. As a piece of modern art...fine. It's a nice piece. As a piece of comic art, especially a cover, you can keep your Chew and shove it up your ass.
Chew - Another chicken cover that says nothing. This would make a better Xmas Card than a comic cover.
Criminal - I don't know why, it made me think it was a Daredevil book. I always feel like, somebody's watching me. Too simple.
Dark Drain - Acceptable for a Vertigo, but not much else. I might look at this cover and think, WTF and maybe open it just to ease my curiosity of what it's about. But the cover doesn't clue me in too well.
Daytripper - The Beattles did it better.
Demo - Will somebody please punch that bitch in the face. A 5 minute head with another 5 minute background. Please!
Detective Comics - A REALLY SUCKY POSE COVER!!!
DMZ - Not bad. This actually looks poignant and dramatic. Not sure why I'm supposed to want to buy it, but its not a bad cover.
Elephantmen - Manga Fans are jerking off feverishly!
Feeding Ground - Heartburn....um....okay, a comic about a burning heart. Is this what this is about???
Zombie - It's not horrible. At least it makes me wonder what might be inside.
King City - That's a big piece of King Shit
Lock and Key - I'm sure I'm supposed to feel like this is excellent, but I think it makes for a better paperback book cover than it does a comic cover. Quick, take the title off of this. Now tell me...what the hell do you expect to be about inside of this?
Beats the fuck out of me!
Oz - Propoganda cover. Hmm....I'm not inspired.
Templar - This dude might have got paid good money for this. And some people would bust their ass just for a chance to break into comics with a cover 500 times better than this. Justice??? Hey, it made a best comic covers list of the year. I remember when there used to be a lot more work involved.
Morning Glories - I'm not a fan, but I actually ordered one last week because usually when I do see one of their covers, even though the covers aren't saying much...they're nicely done. I guess this one is too but it leaves me wishing for better.
New Avengers - I had to let my eyes focus on this a bit before I could actually see what was going on. Not a bad picture. If this happens inside, it might be a bit of an insight cover, but it comes off as a glorified poster shot.
The Girl in the ice - Did everyone see there was a girl in the ice? What did they do for the other 31 pages? Uh....do I care???
The Outfit - The headshot and the cool daddy-o background.
Popgun - Damn, Shi was WAY better 18 years ago! Oh, a heart in the breast. Now I'm interested!
Punisher Max - Punisher Photoshopped in a blended background. Please....give me Steranko ANY FUCKING DAY!!!
Scalped - Homage or just a complete rip off???
Secret Six - I'm beginning to think Robot6 is a girl. Awww...How cute!
Sense and Sensibility - I might have actually bought this.....If it was 1882!!!
Set to Sea - That's where I want to put this book
Spirit - Glorified poster shot. Sad thing is, usually the Spirit can be counted on for a decent cover.
Strange Tales - Fan out everybody!!!
Superboy - I'm convinced after this cover that he's gay.
Supergirl - The fact she looks like Bizzaro Girl would make me slightly curious, that is...if I was a fan of Supergirl.
Sweet Tooth - Okay, paint by numbers. Whether it was colored or not, its still just a straight on say nothing shot.
Sweets - I'll go ahead and say I like this one because this has some insight to it. And being I read #1 I know that this is the crew about to uncover another murder. This cover is actually better than #1 which Defiant1 thought was about a street light. I'll say I like this one.
Sword - Rob Liefeld meets Barney. Except I would have preferred Liefeld.
Syndrome - Photoshop a baby doll with brains. You too can be a comic cover artist!
Toy Story - I'd rather watch the movie.
Beautiful World - Nice cover, for an African Romance novel.
Unwritten - Uninspired.
Viking - They both suck
We will bury you - Nice commercial art piece, but I don't know why I'd want it as a comic.
I guess I half way liked about 3 of them.
