Unfortunately its the art of the times and that's the pool of work they are going to pick from. Overall though, I rather liked the commercial. It wasn't too over the top sickening and generated just enough intrigue to create a slight buzz and curiosity about the comics. I think it did its job. Is like to see more of an advertising push like this whether we like the comics or not, its a step in the right direction in terms of getting the word out there to the public that is not normally looking to buy comics.
Thanks for posting that DF1.

THey didn't takethe super out of Superman, they just took him back to where he was early on. They will bring him up more and more as time goes on. Another title that has been suprisingly good is Wonder Woman. She is actually interesting. I have read the first 3 issues of a number of the titles and first 2 of others. So far so good. MArvel has not interested me at all lately. JLA 2 was pretty good. They are reestablishing and updating the New Gods. As for Lee's art, Its Lee's art. It hasn't changed. It is still strong layout and character work, but I am just kind of bored with that type of artwork these days. Like Sylvestri on Hulk, no interest.

When I got back into comics in 1990, the sight of Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld's art almost made me get right back out of collecting comics. If not for Valiant, I would have quit collecting again. I've never liked the DC characters, so I really don't care what they do. Never even saw the Green Lantern movie. I regret seeing the last Superman movie. df1

We all regret seeing the last Superman movie. As for Superman, I recommend Action. Not only is Morrison doing great work with the chartacter, but I think rags Moraliss art would be more your speed.

I liked Superman Returns. I've tried a lot of Morrison's work but outside of his run on JLA and Batman: Arkham Asylem-A Serious House On Serious Earth I find the rest of his work hard to comprehand and some of it just downright extremely stupid.

Cyber, pick up the collected All Star Superman. What a great book. and WE3 also. Tear jerker book. Some of his work is very complex, and in some ways requires a couple of readthoughs to pick up everything. Just like some films do.

Some of his work is very complex, and in some ways requires a couple of readthoughs to pick up everything. Just like some films do. I read the first 2 issues of All Star Superman and they were the absolute worse damn Superman comics I ever read. I perfer Superman: What Do You Get For the Man Who Has Everything, Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, Superman: For Tomorrow and Superman: For All Seasons over All Star Superman anyday of the week. If WE3 were a movie I might be inclined to watch it but it's not the kind of a comic that I care to read. [Rant begins: Plus Grant Morrison had to appear on my least favorite MSNBC show The Dylan Ratigan Show, to plug his novel and tried to look like he was polictal savy about America and how the progessive ideas that superheroes used to represent and IMHO he came off as an idealistic idoit talking when to Ratigan who's another idealistic idiot and who's the second worse host on MSNBC he's right behind that worthless sack of shit Joe Scarbough. /rant ends]

All Star actually fits in with those books. Its a love letter to the Silver Age Superman.

All Star actually fits in with those books. Its a love letter to the Silver Age Superman. So was Alan Moore's 1963, Supreme: The Story of the Year, Supreme: The Return, and Judgement Day and frankly I find Morrison is just a poor-man's Alan Moore at best and at worse a complete Moore rip-off just without Moore's talent or genius.
