Just read Ozymandius. It was a really good read. Jea Lee did his usual solid work on the art as well. Comedian was very good as well and actually adds a lot more substance to Blake as a character. THe nice thing about these books, is that as "G" mentioned, they are following some of the original format of WATCHMEN. Even the repeating images for clues and segways is used to great effect by all of the teams. Some of the stuff in Silk Spectre, which was a good read also, didn't work as well for me though. I am looking forward to Rorchach though.
Hell I am digging the new Valient books as well.

I may have to DCBS some of these. Definitely looking forward to getting around to reading it. Ozymandius may have been the best character to write a prequel for. As bigw and G said... the format these books have are so similar to the original work. Part of the fun in reading is just reflecting in all the clues and info. For a family of titles that are being accused of being disrespectful to Alan Moore's stories... they are sure paying him respects in how they're laying out and layering these stories.

It's ironic that you both say the format is made similar and yet the format is missing in any other modern comics. The format was very visual in nature. You had to pay attention. Perhaps the format needs to be used in other comics because I rarely see any comics today that even need pictures. A preview I looked at last week had no backgrounds at all. df1

My Facebook page is full of previews for upcoming comics. Nine times out of ten, I'm sticking my nose up and thinking "That looks like shit"....."Another Pose"......."Another Mindless Cover"......I'm serious, I don't know why comic fans let themselves be sheep-herded the way it did. But occasionally I see a Before Watchmen cover and they still look superior to just about anything else I see. There are some pose covers there too. But overall, there is a quality feeling look to the covers. And if I was collecting today, I could see myself giving these books a try.
