If ever the need for proof that the world was going to come to an end, it would be this.
I disagree 100% with "G" and agree 100% with defiant1.
There was nothing hard to understand about this movie. My 8 year old nephew was breaking down plot points.
*Loki was the only one that could and should have been the villain. Just like in the original comic and also in Ultimates.
*Nick Fury is black. In both universes now.
*Hawkeye was being mind controlled.
*That is what Caps uniform looks like. It was a very faithful adaption.
*The Chitauri (the things that were not droids) were basically the Skrulls.
*The film would have flopped with Thanos or Ultron as the villain. Shit, you are complaining about things not making sense now, imagine how confused everyone would be if they had used them.
The Captain America film was very good, and very faithful to the character, who BTW, is just a guy. But that film more than the others did lead into the Avengers.
*The Helicarrier was awesome.
*The reason people were speaking in technobabble, is because their characters are supposed to be super intelligent. Cap was a simple guy from a simpler time. So of course he is confused. He was also our gateway character to the film.
*Thor was very well served in the film. He got to fight the hulk. He got to fight Iron man and his brother and a whole bunch of Aliens and he also played well with SHIELD.
I have watched it 5 times. My wife twice and she liked it more the second time.
I know you cannot stand movies, or cartoons of Superheroes in general "G" but this played out exactly like a comic book come to life.
*Iron Man went into the Portal to get rid of the nuke and also stop the creatures from coming through. They were all hive mind connected also. Very similar to Anihilus's army in the Annialation Conquest books.
I don't feel bad about the feeling I have for the movie. It's my decision and I'm sticking with it. I was disappointed in the movie. Not that I didn't see a lot in it. Don't get me wrong. Overall, I did think it went like a comic and it did have solid moments. I do think it had great graphics and scenes. It was a visual bizarre. I'll go on and give it Moxie points for that. I'm just saying the characters, the story, the mindless fight scenes that just never seemed to be progressing but went on and on. I do think if I just my brain on park and just zone out on it, perhaps it would be best if I watched it UN-interupted by myself. I could say, I enjoyed it if I wanted to. But the fact is, I didn't. I got the story. I knew what was going on. I just hated the being dropped off in the middle of something and then figuring it out as you go. I've seen Marvel do it a couple of times now and usually it irritates me because it assumes everyone is up to date, has watched them all in order, etc. I'm glad they are piecing things together to create cohesion, I just think they could be a bit more straightforward for those who aren't into comics, comic movies, not up on the story so far, don't know who the characters are, etc. Doesn't mean I think they need a recap. I just think approaching the stories more straightforward helps make sure everyone is on board.
I don't think it was....per say.....a bad movie. It was nice comic eye candy. I just wanted something more from the story. I just thought for the most part, it was kind of boring. And the Avengers were bordering on irritating at times. Almost like comic talk, but not real humanized talk. I didn't care for the endless High IQ banter. Yeah, they geniuses and all that. I know. But the comics have much lighter moments. This was like watching comics with X-Files dialogue. I got too pretentious. When I read the comics, they don't sound this buttfucked about everything. They come off a lot realer than this. There was tiny moments. But usually it was for forced gags. The comics did them more as side story arcs. You know....the moments that are REAL. I felt like that was missing. They all just seemed like a bunch of tools. Here I come to save the day. Glory, Glory. I don't know. Except in flashes, they all seemed plastic to me.
And I really don't give a shit what they do with Nick Fury today because everything is FUCKED today with comics. But when I grew up, Nick Fury and Spider-Man was white. Samuel L, wasn't much of nothing but a dump truck driver in this movie anyways. His role was pretty lame I thought.
I don't care. I didn't like. I don't give a fuck.
Thanks
