Ok i'll work it giive me a day or two. I'll let you know what will be needed to make it as easy as it can.
If you want to keep this skin, i'll work on that. But Becca does have an updated template of the one we did for your friends forum.

I was hoping I could opt not to upgrade. If the changes annoy me enough, I may retire my board.

No. I'm not interested in even seeing version 5. I want it left alone. I'm happy the way it is. df1 While I'd rather they didn't do anything at all, it is their messageboards that I've been able to use for FREE the last almost 6 years now. I suppose if they want to upgrade their software, I'd have to go ahead and let them. I think I would feel a bit more steadfast at being against them if I actually paid for their services. I know they use affiliate marketing to make money, but I doubt they have made anything off me. The idea of waiting until 2014 seems tempting. I don't really have the time to do this right now. I have a lot going on. But I don't exactly want to wait until the last second either. If I can get this board looking and running about the same, I'll be okay with it. Just something else to get used to. Just about every software or social website I've used more than a couple years has changed the way they do things and typically I don't like the changes. But, I guess they have their minds made up. So....I don't know. Hoping it's not going to be as bad as it seems. I kind of like things the way they are now. If I want to make a change I know how to do it. I'm comfortable as it is. I'm not in the mood to have to learn something new.

What you find with v5, is that they made the admin panel easier to do everything you need. Making your own skins and actually having control over your forum. What v5 is : basely they took the most popular codes from all of their version. And added to their software. They also asked every forum owner what they wanted to have as features. They took those features and added thoes as well.
If you have time head over to pb support and read their v5 board. it helps .
I'm not trying to sell you guys PB. All i'm saying if you like your forum, if you enjoy having your boards and discussing your topics. And meeting others that's in to comics. Why give it up.?
G please check your PM.

I've been at it a long time and it's had high points and low points. It's at a state of low maintenance and I'd prefer to keep it that way. I'm not all that interested in maintaining it and I detest the way web coding has shifted to cater to smart phones and tablets. Why give up? Because it's time. This is as good of a reason as any. df1

Last I saw, you weren't pleased with Proboards 5 and it wasn't looking like you wanted. Have you experimented anymore or are you just going to wait until it's forced on us?

Last I saw, you weren't pleased with Proboards 5 and it wasn't looking like you wanted. Have you experimented anymore or are you just going to wait until it's forced on us? df1 Underdog did a very admirable job of making a test site of this site and trying to replicate the way it looked and ran here, unfortunately his efforts seemed futile. The board has a real teenager feel to it and a early 2000's Ford Taurus feel to it. Everything looked curvy instead of sharp corners. They also made this avatar creator with a bunch of Anime looking characters where you could create your own avatar to look like yourself, similar to what Yahoo did years ago when your tried to personalize your Yahoo site. I can't stand it. We tried for a time to tweak it but it became clear rather quickly that to try and get the board looking and running the way this one does is a rather futile effort. The test site still exists but I haven't looked at it in ages. As a side quest, Underdog began work on what the site would look like with just the generic skin and setup. If worse came to worse, I would use it. Considering you never liked my current skin, you might like it more if I just used a generic skin. If I would be forced to use the upgrade tomorrow, I would go the generic route but I would be rather disappointed. I fail to see the benefits of this upgrade. What I am picturing is a bunch of young adults in the 18 - 25 year old range who get off on making program code for message boards and the only thing I see it benefits is other geeks like themselves who get into such things like playing with code to manipulate their boards. They have streamlined their interface, but it's all cartoony and corny looking on every level. To be honest, it is more flash than substance. The way Proboards runs currently is all I could ask for. I know how to use it and manipulate it. Going forward, I won't want to play with it.I would think the purpose of an upgrade would be to benefit the end user. I don't feel the end user benefits at all. It strictly is for other geeks who get jollies messing with messageboards. They are the only ones who I could see benefiting from this. I am subscribed to Proboards News Feed on Facebook and as the rave about it, I see posters complaining that they think it sucks. Instead of responding to it, they ignore it like nothing was ever said and continue to act like version 5 is glorious. As a side note, I decided not to post to see how long it would take for someone to post without my input. It took 1 month for you to post here. I guess my board is at an all-time low. Anytime I put work into it, it goes unrewarded. You might be the only one who even posts themselves. All other users have abandoned me. Even those I would call best friends. I fail to see the reason to put any effort into this. If a mood hit me to post something, I would. But I fail to see a reason to keep trying when no one appreciates what I do. I also get tired of supporting other boards faithfully and giving good content and thoughtful responses only to see them ignore my board. Sometimes supporting a board is a 2 way street. I've lost interest in posting on boards who don't support mine when they could have very easily. I don't care that my board is dead. I believe in momentum and contributions. I don't want to contribute to others if they don't want to contribute to me. So in retrospect, I guess the upgrade can happen and I likely just won't care. Because no one else does.
