Sorry to hear Dick Ayers passed this week at the age of 90. Seems like with every creator of this era that passes, we get further from the time when comics were cool.

90 years is a full life. I already accept the fact that newer generations are going to push mine and my memories out of existence.

Yeah, recently I tried a couple of Facebook comic fan pages. I already had a few but thought I would try a few more. Some were pretty cool like one is Kirby and another was a comics from the past fan pages.Still another claimed to be about comics of the past and most of it was a bunch of rah rah types posting pictures of their pose covers. I got rid of that one real quick. The ones that truly were showing old works are so much more adorable compared to the guy trying to show off his variant cover collection from one modern series. Back inthe day only 1 cover necessary and it made you want to buy it. Yeah, those fan pages were way better.

A 14 year old today thinks a comic from 1997 is old. Remember how old FF#1 seemed in 1978?

At least in 1978, when I looked at a 1963 comic, it looked oldand classic.A comic from 2014 looks almost the same as a comic from 1999. The was a guy posting pics of all his Superior Spiderman covers, most of them were head shots. Thats when I knew I needed to dump the page. Comparing that with someone posting 2 page spreads from Kirby and it was no comparison.
Cant believe I said adorable on my previos post. I meant to say enjoyable. Thats why I dont post on my phone much.

Yep. Modern comics and their covers are crap. They are neither adorable nor lustworthy.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of another Silver/Bronze Age Artist. Dick Ayers was always a gentleman at Conventions whenever I'd speak to him. So many gone now: Gil Kane, John Buscema, Dick Giordano, Jim Aparo, Jack Kirby and many others, I'm sure. Is there a website that lists all of these very talented Creator's that are no longer with us? Just curious. If there is such a memorial site, please post the address.

I don't know of one. You can usually find the info if you research their names individually.

Thanks for the response back. I actually just did a search for "comic Book Creators died dead" and was surprised...I didn't realise Marshall Rogers had died ( I Loved his Batman work) or Ernie Chan was gone as well. And I did see a show (Comic Book Men) where Kevin Smith and his Comic Shop in New Jersey sold some original Artwork by Inker Mike Esposito to help his widow. This site is a fine example of those of us who love this medium to keep in touch! Thanks again!

I faintly remember hearing that Marshall Rogers passed away. He did a short run on Dr. Strange that was excellent. I'm not a DC fan, so I've only seen bits and pieces of his DC work online.
Ernie Chan was erroneously reported dead for several years. I think he is still alive.
