I think I'll let you start that thread. I wont delete it. But you can start it. I want to see a few responses on that one... Are you kidding? My wife might read this board someday! ;D Seeing how things turned out, maybe I should have started a thread with boobs and pelts. Maybe depluto would have kept showing up then.

Maybe depluto would have kept showing up then. ah, c'mon, don't sweat it, even if we don't have a ton of people posting regularly, it's still more active than where we came from. I think one thing you have to keep in mind (and I'm sure DF1 mentioned this to you before) is that the other boards we post on (valiantfans, lyria and even DF1's board in the beginning) have been associated with an informational website. Valiantfans has valiantcomics. com, with all the VALIANT stuff archived, Lyriacomicexchange has a page discussing comic investing which has a link to the forum and DF1's board had the great Defiant and Broadway content. This board doesn't really have that. You don't have a separate website that is linked to this board and you're not really focused on any particular niche that would specifically attract someone here that wasn't already familiar with you or the board. I basically look at this board as the "talk to Gowaltrip board" in that I know you from other boards, I think you're a cool guy, so I come by to see what you have to talk about. If I have something to say in response, I post. If I have something interesting to share (which isn't often) I do so. In closing, unless you do something like make a website that is really focused on a particular niche (in your case, maybe something like a Charlton Comics collector's site) and then link the board to that website, I don't think you can really expect the board to receive a lot of traffic. My two cents, take them for what they are.

You are right and I do realize that. And even though I seemed to have run cfs off, he was right on most of what he said. The problem is, I made this board because he closed down. If he would have just kept going, this board wouldnt exist. I was happy being a poster and that's it. When I begged him (and I did) to keep it going, he said "make your own board"....so I did The thing is, Im just a fan. I dont have this tremendous knowledge on 1 subject on comics. I didnt study it that hard. I have a lot of knowledge, but I wouldnt say I specialize in any of it. Greg has Valiant, Whet has Investing, cfs has after valiant. I guess I could go after Charlton, but Im no expert in that. It wasnt a smash hit that collectors loved. So, it would be a small following IF I could create one. This board doesn't really have that. You don't have a separate website that is linked to this board and you're not really focused on any particular niche that would specifically attract someone here that wasn't already familiar with you or the board. Me and Underdog are currently working on just that. The difference is Greg and Whet basically had pay boards which has expansion built right into it. I have presented my ideas to Underdog about trying to expand this board and make it into a site and he is currently working behind the scenes on that. It may take a really long time, but this board is not without dreams of something bigger and better. Finding a way to do it is the hard part. My knowledge on html and other coding is like minute at best. Ive actually learned more from having this board. Its kind of cool and makes me wish I knew more. What I dont know, Underdog makes up for. He basically takes my ideas and tells me if it is doable or not. And if it is, he looks for ways to get it done. I honestly did not know him before I started the board. He's actually kept hope alive for me by being so helpful. I basically look at this board as the "talk to Gowaltrip board" in that I know you from other boards, I think you're a cool guy, so I come by to see what you have to talk about. My two cents, take them for what they are. I appreciate that brotherj. Im glad you show up and post. I know your honest and will post when the feeling hits. I respect that. I can only say I didnt know when I started how hard this would be. It wasnt that hard making the board. But finding ways to get people to come and contribute is extremely hard. Ive been dropping links wherever I can and Ive just kept posting and when people post it does feel good. But I find it is like a business. You start with high hopes and then the customers dont come. You cant just revamp your business in the blink of an eye. So, you brainstorm and you try and come up with things. Im hoping being "just a fan" is enough for now. I realize you dont LEARN anything here. But, Im not the smartest when it comes to comics. So, Im just trying to struggle through this and continue building. I guess I will see where I am a year or so from now and see if there is more hope to go on. Right now things are in the works. But a long ways from being realized. So, until then...its still gowaltrip's fan site. Thanks for being here.

As Seinfield has taught us, you can have a whole board about nothing as long as you express yourself in an interesting way. You mentioned being a fan.. why not talk about being a comic fan? What got you interested in collecting? What current books are you reading? Why Marvel and DC are sucking it up yet again. ;D Just some thoughts.
Since this isn't just a comic board, keep the brainstorming alive.

Thank you and welcome aboard whet! Its really good to have you here! ;D Welcome to my humble ever evolving modest board. The board is slow, but its hanging in there. Every contribution by every poster makes the board just that much better. If you would have seen the board when I 1st started, it really was a lot of subjects. I have narrowed the focus down to mainly comics with a couple of side shows. I will do exactly what you are saying. I have no claim to fame as a speculator or any inside knowledge of a particular company or niche in the market. I am mainly, just a comics fan getting ready to hit year #30 in 2008. I'm sure you bring a wealth of knowledge and ideas. So, Im very happy you came by. You have a great board and I will continue to stop by and post there. I look forward to what you and others bring to the table!

Man, I cannot believe how long I had to search for this thread! It kept being overlooked. I got nostalgic and decided I wanted to look for my very 1st post on this board when I 1st created it on July 14th, 2007. I got to looking around and I couldnt find it. I thought that I had accidently deleted it! I was getting pissed!
Then it just appeared in front of me.
This thread has the very 1st post on this board and is a reminder to me where I started. For that reason alone and because I never want to have to look for it again. Im going to sticky this thread. Because it does represent my humble beginnings on this board.
