Well, thought I would write a little update post. I dont know exactly why. Guess I would express how I currently feel about the board.
I feel good about the board and where it currently stands. I know its not the flashiest, or coolest, or has the best members posting away. Or an admin with great creative talent. Actually, it doesnt have any of that. But, I do feel I have given it the old college try. And, I like the results so far.
As said before, I wanted to thank Underdog for his assistance on getting the board done. He put the final finishing touches on how the board currently looks. Without his help, the board would look incomplete and a lot weirder than it currently does.
It was my idea to have the comic backgrounds. Although it was cfs who made me want to change what we had. I had to agree. I like the skin layout of the board, but it was too....purple and lacked really what the board is about. I dont even know how to make a banner yet. But the wall paper deal was easy. Yeah, the center is well hidden and the sides are a bit confusing with the way they look. But the peeking areas allow you to see more when you scroll up or down. As well as I have made it a point to post the cover in the Comics section under "Comic Backgrounds of the Day". Some covers fit very well, and others dont work very well at all. But, for 1 day, its that books day to shine. And Ive come to like the idea.
I went to the proboards forum site which is amazing. It has members withover 90,000 posts!!! I cannot imagine as my current all time high on any board is approaching 2,000. I went there for inspiration. Tips and maybe troll for a new member or 2. I have failed on the new members, but I got lots of inspiring info on how to be as good an admin as you can be.
I believe I am in the painfully slow part of being an Admin. Having your board created and done and just wishing people would show up and almost take over the board.
Its not happening....
Well, the proboard forum pretty much acted like, if you cant take the pain of seeing your board run slow, then you shouldnt even try it.
It also made reference that in the beginning at least, you will be the one who posts the most. At least you should be. And, I have tried to be that person.
I now fully understand and appreciate just how hard this is to get running successfully. Its not enough simply to make it. Its not enough to put your heart into it. You also have to have patience and just a flat out commitment to see it through the slow times....
.....I am there now.
I would like to thank cfs for showing me how it can be done and in essence still be striving. It may not look like it. But a board with even a few active participants, is a heck of a lot better than none! And I am grateful. For even though I want more and it could be livelier. It could be a lot worse.
So thanks fellas for showing up from time to time and making me feel like its worth it for me, to keep working on it and continue to put my thoughts on the page. If I didnt see a name or guest on the board from time to time. It would be a lot harder to continue. So thanks for stopping by.
Im convinced Im going to keep at it. I dont know how long or anything. But, Im going to go as long as I humanly can. I rather like having a board.
I hope it shows.
