I like it, but it looks like one of those modern "pose" covers who are ranting about. I know it's hypocritical of me. That's why I said I wouldn't want 100 issues just like it. But occasionally, I like a pose cover even from today. This is just one I like from the Silver Age. I just wouldn't want to see it dominate an era. Back then, there seemed to be a lot more variety and it's just a nice pose cover for its day.

Yeah this cover harkens back to the days of the Buster Crabbe serials. It looks like what you would see from a theater card from the 30's.
Pose covers are not a bad thing, but the over use and just plain lazy dependancy on them is a bad practice that needs to be done away with.

Quite possibly your most poetic quote since you've been here. I couldn't agree more. It's not that pose covers are a bad thing, it's just there used to be so much more God Damn variety to covers than there are now and damn it, when I go and look at the new comics in a comic store, I want to see something besides 300 pose covers looking back at me!

I have decided (as long as I don't foget) that next time I go up to Fantasy Escape to BS with bob for a while, I am going to go through His Marvel back issues by title and see how many pose covers Marvel is putting out annually compared to other types of covers.
I will do DC also just not on the same day.

I have decided (as long as I don't foget) that next time I go up to Fantasy Escape to BS with bob for a while, I am going to go through His Marvel back issues by title and see how many pose covers Marvel is putting out annually compared to other types of covers. I will do DC also just not on the same day. I have to say, by comparison, I would say Marvel is doing more pose covers than DC. In fact, it's hard not to find a Marvel that isn't in some way some kind of staredown or pose cover. I really think Marvel over the last year or 2 has been really pathetic. One of the few comics I found that you might have something of an insight cover on was Captain America, but it seems like since Epting stopped working on it, they might go back to more of the same ole same ole. Not sure. DC does a lot of group staredowns and poses too, but occasionally they have a bit of insight to their covers. Not often, but occasionally. I would say its more often than with Marvel. Since I'm more of an overall fan of Marvel, I find myself thoroughly disgusted for the most part when I look at their covers. With DC, even though I'm not as big a fan, I find myself drawn more to their books in the last few years because they aren't totally 100% committed to nothing but poses and staredowns. I'm tending to find just a bit more in terms of a good visual with them than I do with Marvel on the covers. Marvel just needs to stop.....Looking at them just annoys the shit out me!
