I don't care for that style of art or those snapshot poses, but I think it's cool this is happening. df1

I wonder if this means the original Atlas Comics could go under a bit of a speculative price jump?

Okay everybody... grab a glass of water. Take a drink. Swallow completely. I just received a care package from Jason Goodman. I read Grim Ghost #0 and Phoenix #0. These are both hands down the best superhero comics I've read in the past decade. The stories are short, but they provide the exact amount of teaser and payoff that they need to provide. I wasn't real impressed with the covers, so that alone was enough to make me skeptical. The art gets the job done and it's not distracting. I'm a fan of J.M. Dematteis' writing, so I think seeing it again after all these years is very refreshing. The dialogue is natural and sets up any future stories very well. The characters are interesting and to be honest, I'm not real familiar with their 70's incarnations. I'm not comparing them to the past versions. So yes... this is my first positive review of a modern comic in a long time. \ That being said, I was very concerned when I read that Dematteis was not going to be Editor in Chief for this new line. I do have doubts that the comics will move forward in a positive way with the great start these comics offer. Time will tell. Defiant1 (This is a repost of a post I made on my messageboard.)

Yes, I knew that and had already forgotten it. Grell is a highly competent artist, but he rarely draws any stories that remotely interest me. I still have some significant concerns about whether I want to support the line with my dollars, but having two pretty good introductory comics is a huge step in the right direction. I'm also quite impressed with Jason's personalized 'hands-on' marketing push. It is particularly impressive after seeing Dark Horse do the complete opposite with their Gold Key relaunch. Dark Horse treated Jim's books like an afterthought and seemed more interested in shoving reprint volumes down everyone's throat. df1

That Grim ghost cover straight up sucks. Its like 90's art trying to make a comeback.
