Excellent page! Im happy I own #2 of volume 1 even though I know it is not rare. I still wonder if #1 is the first true Charlton? I find it funny they tried this bunny and turtle theme on issues 2-4 but quickly scrapped it. I never knew of the Zoo Funnies Presents Nyoka issues. For some reason seeing those instantly appealed to me. I also own volume 3 #1. Curious about your rare thought. You're probably right. I hardly ever see a Zoo Funnies from any volume so im sure some of those are quite hard to come by.

It's known that sales taper off just before a series is cancelled. It is no surprise that many Charlton scans are hard to find or they are of poor quality. On the other hand, there has been 20 years worth of people scanning comics to sell on the internet and 15 years of people actively collecting scans for comic databases. In this time period you think that more than one scan of a comic would pop up. Whenever I see only one poor quality scan of a comic and all the resource sites are sharing that one scans... it's a bit of an oddity. df1

I'm working on my largest Charlton cover gallery for an individual title to date. Here's a sneak preview of what I have so far. charlton.herobo.com/Billy_the_Kid/Billy_the_Kid.htmlThis has been a particularly frustrating checklist because I've located evidence that about 5 UK versions exist that aren't listed on any other websites. I've also located a department store variant that no one lists. It's frustrating because I laid out 5 web pages ahead of time, and with each variant I discover I have to shift about 100 images one at a time. I'm also discovering that for some of these comics, there is just one scan available online being shared by EVERY site. That means the GCD is using the same scan as mycomicshop, Mile High Comics, Atomic Avenue, Comicsrealm, comicspriceguide... etc. To me that is uncanny that no one is scanning this stuff. Nobody! df1

Nobody! df1 I was able to look at 1 of the 5 pages. My only online access these days is a cheap trac-phone which hates my site and makes it near impossible for me make posts. When I really want to do something Ill ask my gf to turn her mobile hot spot on like now so I can use my good Samsung S3 phone but neither is like a desktop computer for online access which I have none of that these days. I am quite amazed with your checklist and I still feel it will become the defacto tool for Charlton enthusiasts and historians if there are such a thing. Regardless I think it deserves recognition in the field of comics. I appreciate how much work you have put into this and as you work on it you have unearthed rarities that most would have never realized. I do plan on commencing with my Charlton collecting once again when I get back to being able to buy comics. That and other key comics from the other publishers. I have no desire to buy common books anymore. There has to be some significance or keyness to whatever I buy in the future. But I will continue to buy Charlton no matter what issue it is with the only factors being price and condition. With all my selling this year I'm glad to say I didn't sell 1 of my Charltons. Your checklist will be my reference of choice as before and going forward. Unfortunately the upcoming upgrade by Proboards is proving problematic for the checklist among other items. I hate the upcoming upgrade. Underdog has done quitea job making me a decent site but ovoverall I still hate it. Problems include your checklist which hasn't been able to be implemented as of yet as far as I know. The quick link menu I have at the top of the page now looks like utter crap on the new version and I will probably have to scrap it. The new version did away with using tables which is partially how that was created. The Lyria ap doesn't work on it as well as other aps currently in place. And the recent posts link which displays numerous posts all on 1 page now only has a few posts on it and you cannot see more without loading another page. I cannot stand that all. Plus the overall appearance of the new design has been softened and rounded for an old Taurus look which looks just plain gay. Not to mention the default avatar system is now made up of childish looking manga type characters which I asked to be removed if possible. Totally awful and geared towards younger people. I am not impressed at all with the upgrade. No sharp edges and plenty of problems. I appreciate all Underdog has tried to do. He has worked on it all year but I've been unable to speak to him lately about issues and he probably thinks I don't care and I'm ignoring his efforts which is not the truth. Im unsure how I'm going to manage going forward. My hands are tied until I can get back to desktop access and that might be a long time from now.

As you probably know. I have a backup plan. comics.vforums.co.uk/It's different and I can't get some of their scripts to work. Overall though it's a similar experience. df1

Overall though it's a similar experience. df1 I know you showed it to me before and I'm sure ill follow if it comes to that. As for me doing the same I guess I'm just ill prepared to do something like that and don't have the resources to even attempt it. I can barely do admin functions here being my only access now is by crude phone. Something like that would involve me have a desktop working on high speed internet at a minimum and then I would want to transfer all I have here over there which I doubt is possible. As much as I hate the upgrade and I can assure you I hate it, at this point in time it seems in my best interests to keep things going on here. And besides Underdog did work all year on tweaking my test site without me asking him to do it. Once he did though I basically complained about everything. Amazingly he has made something I can live with. A lot about it still irks me but I guess I will just have to adapt. I kind of hope you'll find a way to stick with Proboards. Before Underdog revamped everything we started with, I thought the stripped down generic version was my best option. I'm still going to have that as an option to hopefully appease people like yourself. I just think I could see how you do things on your end and decide if I want to implement some of the ways you do things.I hate what Proboards is ddoing but hey they gave me a free site going on 7 years now. I feel it is their right to do what they see fit. I don't have to like it but I guess I owe it to them to try and stick it out. Not that I owe them anything. I just feel I need to try and go forward and make the best of it if I can.

This is a way for them to tone back functionality and exercise more control while still giving you stupid little features you don't need. I really don't like the new web designs for sites these days. I'm perfectly willing to leave their service simply because they f'd with a configuration I want. df1

I absolutely hate what Proboards has done. Its true that they gave us a bunch of things we dont need and it looks like it was designed by a bunch of 15 year olds. I fail to see the benefit of the upgrade. The current version works great and functions how i need it to. The new version looks like it was made by code geeks for cpde geeks. If i had the ability i might be tempted to pack up and move elsewhere, but i also dont want to stary over. my site sucks now but the body of work means more to me than the current state. i will support whichever site you lead and i wish i could do it all oversgsin but i cant start over from scratch.

For most people, the changes are just aesthetic. I was doing some unusual tweaks. I added a third party chat function, roll out menus, customized video script for multiple sites. I even considered embedding my galleries into a forum page. To me that made their service cool. To restrict customization like that makes it far more boring. df1

I even considered embedding my galleries into a forum page. To me that made their service cool. To restrict customization like that makes it far more boring. df1 I have seen a lot of those changes you are referring to. The current configuration is easy to figure out how to go about things and add things you desire. All you really needed was the desire and you could find a way to get it done. The avenues to attempt to go about it was kind of intuitive. The board allowed for customization. I haven't studied the new site editor but I did look once or twice quickly at it and I wasn't impressed. It seems to want to wow you with a user interface that has visuals, but the intuitiveness wasn't apparent to me. I leave myself open to figuring things out but the way it looked, it didn't look like I would want to tinker with it. A few years ago I used to want to do a whole lot with my site and I had dreams to get a lot of things done. For awhile there, I did do some things and I was learning about other things and then my life got in the way and I stopped tinkering with my site. Before this I had seen some of the things you were doing and some of it appealed to me. I seen the site as having a lot of potential. At the same time I had opened up a billboard site on GoDaddy and I found their editor to be like sticking needles in my eyes. Everything I accomplished happened by me doing it over and over and over until I finally got something minor done. I'm pretty sure Proboards will be easier than that, but the new configuration editor looked like useless bells and whistles. The difference seems to be a simple interface now that lends itself to easy customization, compared to a much flashier interface that looked like you would spend more time figuring out what did what then you would actually accomplishing anything. All I want going forward is a site to keep posting on. I think I will be hard pressed to want to tinker with it much. I'm actually hoping that once everyone has been upgraded they suffer a backlash or a lot of people leave them because they enjoyed things the way they are now. It reminds me of how Myspace used to be good until Facebook was catching on so they changed their format and then Myspace completely sucked and everyone left. Most times new formats just destroy what was already great about it. I kind of doubt Proboards will ever be as good as version 4 again.
