No offense to everyone celebrating or not celebrating a different Holiday, but I've gotten to where I don't like saying Happy Holidays because for me it was always Merry Christmas and it got to where you were being politically incorrect for saying it Merry Christmas. Well, I'm sorry, I want to say Merry Christmas to all who share with us this holiday and I hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas. We are expecting a White Christmas here later today. An extremely rare treat for us!  |

Outside my window it is green.

Sitting here with a foot of snow on the ground and it's still going. This is the most snow I've seen at one time since I was a kid. Being it's Xmas, it's pretty special. Being I drive 50 miles to work, I doubt very seriously I will be working tomorrow. I call that a win-win! |

Well said G. Here is nebraska we dream of a green christmas, which we got Well, it's official. Sunday's snow was the biggest one day snow here since 1989. 21 years or half my life ago. I remember that snow day too. Not long after that, we went 6 consecutive years without recording 1 inch of snow. There was times I was so hard up to see snow, I would go traveling to see it. Sunday's snow was the 4th time it has snowed already here this winter. If we snow at all, it's usually only once or twice and within the worst months of January and February. I know I'm making a big deal out of it, but sorry....I'm not used to it. It is absolutely surreal for me to see all this snow on the ground. Officially 13.4 inches. Earlier today me and my wife had to take my son his car. Drove 50 miles each way. NC DOT had the roads immaculate. VC DOT on the other hand had the roads treacherous at best. I seen a LOT of cars off the road. It was amazing how different the road conditions were once we hit the state line. On the way home, I took the road less traveled which had hardly any snow removed anywhere. The sun was going down at this point and black ice was everywhere. For 1 brief second, I lost a bit more grip than I was comfortable with and regained it about the time I thought I was in trouble. Considering I drove 100 miles in it and that was the worst moment, I feel lucky. I was extremely careful but even still, you never know when a moment will grab you. I must say, the ride home was absolutely beautiful. Other than my 1 second of freight, I enjoyed the hell out of the ride home. It's so odd to see my environment like this, I feel like I have left home and moved to Nebraska!  I'm sure it's nothing for you guys, but for here....this is something! And right at Xmas too. Great sense of timing for once! |

Great sense of timing for once! I think I told you I have no intention of ever stepping into the state of Virginia again. I had to appear in court on the Monday following the "Storm of the Century" which left the entire East cost covered in ice. I could not call ahead on the Friday and make arrangements for a postponed court date because both the courthouse was closed as well as my lawyer's office. I had to drive on ice for 13 straight hours to get there. It sucked. I've been too lazy to post the few pictures I took. Atlanta had it's first White Christmas in over 120 years. Compared to what you describe, it was nothing but an annoyance. df1 |

I just wouldn't have gone defient. If Va. gets word of a possible 2 inches of snow, all government buildings are closed down.
Personally, this was nothing. Yeah it snowed a lot, but being from Ohio, this was like the warmup for an average winter.
I went to the grocery store at 9am and decided to do some donuts in the big empty parking lot. some of the people going to the store looked at me like I was crazy.
Of course, having my window down and laughing like a loon probably didn't help.
