I hear ya Tom, but this one more than the others is really worth the money to see. It really demands the big screen just to house all of the Asgardian stuff. I love movies in the theaters, I just hate theaters and people. I don't feel like I miss much when I watch it on my 50 inch plasma and surround sound system. I know there is a bit more atmosphere watching it on the big screen, but what I give up in atmosphere, I make up for in comfort. I'm just not a theater type. I think the last movie I seen in the theaters was The Watchmen. That gives you an idea of how often I go.

The girl I date saw the movie Thursday night at midnight. She gave it a 7.5 or 8 on a scale of 1-10 and she knew nothing about the comic. She didn't think there was enough interaction between Jane & Thor for Thor to come back. I thought that was an interesting female perspective. I'll have to ask her to clarify that statement now that I've seen it. Of course she likes looking at well toned masculine men. She loved the movie 300. I seriously doubt this will even be considered for an Oscar. You'd have to really be familiar with the source material and I don't think enough people are. Thor is indeed a bad ass in this movie.

The main thing I want to know.... Was the Destroyer Bad Ass??? He was very bad ass until he confronted Thor (as opposed to "Don Blake"). Thor made mincemeat out of everyone. Thor simply kicked ass and didn't take names. That's the way a superhero should be done. There was still conflict. Loki was there to stir the pot and keep Thor thinking. They merged a mythological history with science and I liked that. df1

The Destroyer was very bad assed, but I felt that his use could have been a bit more actiony. I don't think the movie itself will get into any Oscar noms, except maybe for Costumes or Production design. Tom Hiddleson however was so good that a supporting nod could be in his future. Thor did kick major ass though. I really liked the fight with the Frost Giants. When he starts spinning that hammer in the ice I got excited. But when he saved the Warriors three by killing that gigantic creature, I blurted AWESOME! right in the theater, which embarrassed my friend Lee, and cracked up the couple next to me who agreed with me.
I agree with your gitrlfriend that their interaction was a bit limited, but in my mind I just chalk it up to him meeting a woman who is far different than what he was used to, and she just liked his big muscles.
I cannot wait to go see it again.
