I don't mind a theme being a fad for a bit but zombies have just gone on too long, too much and its gotten really old. It seems like ever since the success of Marvel Zombies (whats that been 6 years now?) followed up by Walking Dead, we have been treated with every kind of zombie comic we can think of or zombie-like theme. Even the ones I think are cool (Crossed) are getting old. In fact a company like Avatar would be in bad shape if zombies go down (which I hope they do) because about 70% of their output is zombie related. The other day I seen a Preview listing that had Jimi Hendrix on the cover as a Zombie. Blasphemy!!! Its not cool anymore. I'm over them.

I have no interest in watching walking dead on TV. I-20 outside Atlanta was closed due to a "Zombie Apocolypse". The were filming the Walking Dead show. I even have to listen to this on the evening news. df1

If IDW's Infestation crossover had been about say giant evil ghost cockroaches spreading across the Transformers, Star Trek, Ghostbusters, and G.I. Joe universes I would have been interested but no it was zombies.
I hate zombies. They are the lamest monsters, I would rather watch the damn Twilight movies (and I hate whiny emo teenage vampires) than put up with another damn zombie comic, movie, TV show, and video game.

I got the sketchbook for that and I have to say that looked like a complete piece of shit. It's too easy and too cliche' to take ANY character, I'm talking ANY character and just make a zombie out of them. I hate to admit that I actually own a Valiant Fan's Membership deal where what's his name drew a Valiant Zombies Sketchbook. Oy! Valiant is best left dead and in the past. Don't take classic Valiant characters and turn them into the living dead! It's too easy. Lets take Barrack Obama and turn him into a Zombie. Let's take Lady Gaga and turn her into a Zombie. It doesn't matter who. Its too easy to dream up. Turning ANYTHING zombie these days means you ain't got no other ideas.

Just for clarity, Walking Dead's success, pre-dates MArvel Zombies Comic book by a few years, alos, the Marvel Comic itself was written by Robert Kirkman the writer of walking dead who was hired because of that book.
Now, aside from Walking Dead, and Crossed, I cannot stand zombies. Sure there are a couple of good books like World War Z by; Max Brooks, but thats it. I cannot stand how everything is getting zombieized. There is a film in the works based on a book which is a zombie version of Pride and Predjudice. Fuck what??? That is only one of many.
I look foreward to season 2 of Walking Dead, but I agree that they are milking the shit dryer than a month old turd.

I stand corrected on the timeline and........ I knew that. OMG I'd like to have a discussion about comics and zombies without having to wade through the usual compliments on the Walking Dead. I'm not trying to praise or unload on that title. Simply the fact that zombies have gotten to a point of making me want to barf it I see another comic trying to milk this. I'll bet you in a few years no one will want anything to do with any zombie comic including Walking Dead.

It's a fad just like the Bay City Rollers, Justin Bieber and the Jonas Brothers. df1
