So I just read Costa's remarks which got him fired. From the standpoint of writing, I have got to say that I agree with what he wrote. Its one of the reasons that I could never stick with the transformers. They have absolutely nothing remotely human about them to make me care for them. I feel writers try to hard to make them human in order to be able to write them at all. And that takes away from the idea of Alien robots who have been around fighting the same war for over a million years. I mean a million years! Really? Do they have any idea as to just how long a frikkin million years is? I like where he posits the question as to why million year old robots would have any reason to transform into cars, all the way back on Cybertron.
I think he should have kept his views to himself and just finished out his contact, but I agree with his entire outlook.

Apparently I got banned from the IDW boards. Not because of criticizing any creator's work, but for not supporting a bunch of crybaby British fans' request for UK "legacy" numbering of the continuation of the Marvel US The Transformers series. No warning in the thread. No email. No tweet. Nothing. Now I've been banned from one other message board about 10 years ago, but at least the webmaster had the balls to tell me what the problem was and we worked it out. These fuckwits can't even be bothered to tell me what I said was so wrong in that thread. Sadly I love a lot of IDW comics, but I'm beginning to hate their message board mods and admins who as my late grandmother said: "don't know their asses from a hole in the ground".

Aprrently I got banned from the IDW boards. Sadly I love a lot of IDW comics, but I'm begining to hate their message board mods and admins who as my late grandmother said: "don't know their asses from a hole in the ground". I learned at the Valiant comics messageboard that just because you are a fan of characters or a line of comics, that doesn't mean your fellow collectors have the same type of appreciation you do. I was threatened with being banned and I cop a real big attitude about threats. I said "do it". The next thing I know, the webmaster puts up my membership for a vote amonst the board members. People I'd gone out of my way to do favors for voted for me to be banned and people whom I barely remembered seeing on the board voted for me to stay. I won the vote, but after looking at all the two-faced individuals, I decided my appreciation of the comics was completely different than theirs. I didn't share their feelings and quite honestly, it wasn't the place for me. I have no regrets about leaving and I don't miss the bull$hit, but that didn't stop people from asking me to go back. One certain individual tried to stick to me like glue online and kiss my ass so he could take credit for me coming back. into the fold. I intentionally pissed him off and all the other people he as$ kissed side with him and I've been viewed as some horrible person for the past decade. After all this time, there's nothing I would have changed. I have testicles and I'm not an ass kissing pu$sy like some of the other comic fans I've encountered online. All you have to do is wave a free comic in front of them and their opinions flap back and forth like a flag in the wind. Occasionally I get a compliment online because people say I tell it like it is. I cut through the crap. It may not be popular, but I'm not an ass kisser. I've had my ass kicked before, but no one has ever gotten me to recant my opinions through intimidation or cyber bullying. I used to drop in and see them rambling shit about me. I didn't go on a tirade of anger or pouting. I stopped them from doing it more than a few times. I won't say how, but lets just say the discussions about me ended whenever I wanted them to and I wasn't even a member of the board anymore. The admin has since matured and apologized. His apology was accepted. df1

The thing that pisses me off is that none of the admins there have the balls to email me and tell me that I was banned (and I know for a fact that my Cyberstrike account is banned) or at least say publicly state that I was banned and why. I'm an admin at my own board and when I banned a few people from it, I make damn sure that everyone knows that they're banned and why I banned them. One of the mods (or admins) there called Sprite, I was warned by other members that her and gang of idiots don't like it when people say things that they don't agree they gang up on them and try to run them off or get them banned. Anytime I would voice an opinion that would run against popular opinion she and/or her one of her friends would cry "he's taking away all the fun from my comics!" because I happen to have *gasp* a different opinion from everyone else. I would get mod-smacked if I stated my opinion and didn't give any reason and I would get mod-smacked if I did give any reasons. IDW love the comics; hate the message board.

Seems like a lot of message boards have that rah-rah mentality where you better say everything good about a subject or you're not allowed to play anymore. I think that way sucks.
I think almost all of us have gotten into it with all of us here from time to time. Sometimes those moments are tense and abrasive and make for the worst moments that can be had on the board but I also think the fact we have them make things a bit more interesting too. If all of us were sitting around going...
I like this.....
I like that too....
Me too....
That Rocks.....
Yeah, its Awesome......
.....Things would get pretty boring quickly. I mean its okay to feel a majority likes certain subjects from time to time. Its realistic. But for everyone to be that way for every subject put up on a board and everyone goes "thats great".....I think thats pretty boring. No need for that.
Message boards need to be a little bit like America and Freedom of speech. Thats what makes things better about a board in my eyes. Some days people will dig what you say, other days they'll hate you for it. But in the end, the overall product seems more interesting in the long run to me.

I hung tight and endured one of my board members that literally annoyed the shit out of me everytime he made a post. I could have banned him a hundred times. Ultimately, I did piss him off intentionally and he left on his own in a huff. I still didn't ban him at that point. I banned him a few months later. I never wanted him there and I didn't want him back, so I made sure it was his choice out of fairness to others. For me to ban someone, they have to intentionally be disrupting the dialogue and theme of what my board is about. My board is not about me. I have a problem with people who only want to talk about me when that isn't the theme of the board. I've never insisted that people agree with everything I say. A well educated counterpoint is welcome. That doesn't mean I won't think a board member is an idiot. I think a lot of people are idiots. I've known too many brilliant people to elevate the average comic book messageboard poster up to their level. I just purged a bunch of inactive accounts on my board. The people aren't banned, but they will need to register again if they want to participate. df1

Now I've been unbanned apparently. Frankly I don't give a shit about the IDW message boards and after reading the replies to the IDW TF July Solicitations thread over there. All the posters, mods, and admins that aren't already hired by IDW are just a bunch of fucking suck ups that will call whatever IDW announces great until/unless the rest of the fandom calls it crap. Then they will call it crap unless the writer or artist posts there occasionally then it's a "personal attack" to call their work crap. There just a bunch of morons who think by sucking the dicks of the creators and editors and telling them how good it tastes that they will get assholes a job. Like when I was banned none of those fucking morons had the common sense to tell me.
So fuck them.
I've decided to return to an old stomping ground of mine and hang around there when I want to talk about only about Transformers comics and they are far more critical of IDW than I am.

I stumbled across more bullshit on Twitter of creators patting themselves the back and telling everyone we should speak positively about comics. I insulted 3 creators on the process. One specifically said he was insulted, so I said "Good, spread the word." I can't stand ass kissing praise. If I say something is crap, it means there are things I care about... and this ain't it. It means I want something done about it. df1

It means I want something done about it. df1 Message boards where your only purpose on the board is to help hype their comics or help cheer them on are worthless message boards to me. I have a lot more respect for a company to have a forum and the users are allowed to bash the company about certain things they don't like about their product. I certainly have a lot more respect for that than a board that only allows praise. If all I can do is praise a company, then I have no interest. I believe as a company, you would want to know what gripes people have with your product. You're going to learn more from 1 person with a legitimate complaint than you are 100 people kissing your ass. I go off and on with Twitter. Sometimes, like now, I dont visit it for months. The reason most likely is the creators I follow just to see what they have to say are all licking their own assholes. Its downright disgusting! Once again, a little self criticism of ones self could go a long ways to me with your fans. You can certainly express "Yeah, that wasn't my best work" and move on. I'll respect more than blatantly knowing something is a piece a crap and telling the world "You should buy this!" There is no self blame on Twitter. Only tooting of their own horn. You understand that to a degree but after awhile you start thinking this person is a walking piece of shit.
