This feels like it is in response to DC's 52 relaunch. Since Marvel cannot stand to be outdone, I'm waiting for something stupid.... Marvel teases ‘It’s coming’ at New York Comic-Conrobot6.comicbookresources.com/2011/10/marvel-teases-its-coming-at-new-york-comic-con/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitterAn ominous-looking postcard from Marvel arrived today at the Comic Book Resources offices teasing “It’s coming.” What It might be is anyone’s guess, but the note on the back from Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso promises we’ll find out more Oct. 15 at the “Cup O’ Joe” panel at New York Comic-Con. Comic Book Resources will, of course, be covering the entire four-day convention, which kicks off Oct. 13 at the Jacob Javits Center. Marvel also encourages those who can’t attend to catch the announcement live at 5 p.m. ET Oct. 15 at Marvel.com/itscoming. “Because trust me,” Alonso writes, “you won’t want to miss this.”

Did anyone ever find out what this is? I made a few feeble attempts at looking but nothing appeared overly obvious and if it was something I already seen, it didn't seem worth any hype at all. So I'm thinking I'm missing whatever they were referring to. Which is probably good.

No idea what this is, but unless they're relaunching their entire line, it won't be close to what DC's done, which I think was brilliant. I hope this is Marvel doing what DC's done, and they're relaunching their entire line. I took a look at Marvel's solicits for December. I honestly wanted to get excited about Marvel, but I don't recognize the universe Lee and Kirby and co created. The only book Marvel is putting out in December I was interested in reading is a reprint of the first three Defenders appearances in Marvel Feature. I never read those. I hope Marvel reboots their great universe soon. One of the best things about Lee and later Shooter is they both understood how important continuity is in a comic book universe. Marvel has literally sold continuity down the river.

I hope Marvel reboots their great universe soon. One of the best things about Lee and later Shooter is they both understood how important continuity is in a comic book universe. Marvel has literally sold continuity down the river. Marvel to me feels like it has been rebooting it's Universe quite constantly, the only difference is, unlike DC, it hasn't done it all at once. The collection of Titles Marvels has now do not resemble the characters I once knew and loved in nearly any way. When I think in terms of disappointment, I am more disappointed with how Marvel turned out than I am DC. I never cared as much for the DC characters and they always felt inferior to me than what Marvel was offering up. Now Marvel has fallen so far and so different from what I remember that DC looks like it hasn't strayed as far and is therefore a bit less disappointing. I don't agree with the DC relaunch but I at least recognize the characters as the ones I left and when I get back to them, they just feel "tweaked". Marvel feels purely molested. I wouldn't want Marvel to do a reboot of their titles unless they went back to being the Lords of Continuity that they once were famous for. If they're soul intent would be to launch a ton of #1s now and then wash and repeat a year or two from now again, I'm not interested. I feel like if you're going to reboot your entire line, you need to make it a change of direction of a re commitment to a long lost quality. To me it's going to feel very hollow to get about 2 years from now and look at the same mess I was seeing about a year ago then. I want to put my faith into these creators and leaders of these companies that they're hearing and they're changing for the better but to be perfectly honest, I don't trust them and I don't feel like anything is really different in the grand scheme of things. I almost feel like a year from now no one will care about this reboot and DC (and maybe Marvel) will once again be looking for their next gimmick to get NEW readers excited again. The difference of the good old days is they didn't have to do all these drastic changes all the time. They just created a solid universe and went straight forward. They've forgotten their roots. And from what I'm reading, it appears that is what your missing.

I honestly think Marvel needs a Crisis on Infinte Earths style story to clean up the mess that Quesada has forced on the Marvel Universe.
This is what I want the complete and total destruction of the Original Marvel Universe, The Ultimate Universe, The Max Comics Univsers, The New Universe/New Univseral, The MC-2 Universe, The 2099 Universe, the Squadron Supreme/Supreme Power Universes The Classic and New Crossgen Universes, and the Ultraverse, the Genesis Universe, and every alternate timeline and parallel universe that they got.
Blow them all up for good and tell the fans that in 2012 is the final year for the Marvel Omniverse and state that the new Marvel Universe will have zero connections to previous universes and that all the titles will be renumbered is the only numbering that will be followed so no more of this screwy numbering and retitling series.
I would also take 3 months after the death of the Marvel Omniverse and not release any new Marvel super-hero comics I would focus on licence properties, TPBs, HC, and finishing up any and all mini-series related before the end of the Marvel Omniverse.
Once it's done I would relaunch the All New Marvel Universe with the following titles:
1) The Squadron Supreme 2) The Ultimates 3) The Avengers 4) The Protectors 5) The Uncanny X-Men 6) The Defenders 7) The Fantastic Four 8) Peter Parker: Agent of S.H.E.I.L.D. 9) The Amazing Spider-Man 10) Daredevil: The Man Without Fear 11) The Incredible Hulk 12) The Mighty Thor 13) The Invisible Iron Man 14) Captian America: The Sentinel of Liberty 15) Wolverine 16) Deadpool 17) Nick Fury 18) She-Hulk 19) Marvelman 20) Star Brand 21) Justice 22) Spitfire 23) Nightmask 24) Dr. Strange 25) The Ghost Rider 26) The Sensational Spider-Girl 27) Wild Thing 28) American Dream 29) XFI: X-Factor Investigations 30) Captian Marvel 31) Adam Warlock 32) The Punisher 33) The Guardians of the Galaxy 34) Dracula: Lord of the Night 35) Blade 36) Strange Tales 37) Journey Into Mystery 38) Marvel Comics Presents 39) Man of War 40) The Ferret 41) Air Man 42) Spider-Man 2099 43) The Avengers 2099 44) Iron Man 2099 45) Captian America 2099 46) Mystic 47) Scion 48) Merdian 49) Prime 50) Ultraforce 51) Nightwatch 52) Rouge

I agree with almost everything you said except for maybe some of the titles you would come back with, even still that's not too bad of a list and I would only maybe object to some of the lesser titles like the 2099 titles and the Crossgen and 3rd-rate Marvel Character titles. The rest I would be totally happy seeing wiped out and rebooted and then refocused on what it could be now or what it should be. Marvel is just way too scattered and convoluted these days and I don't know how hardly anyone could keep up or even care to. Their numbering has already been obliterated so much that you can't even hardly collect the full history of the title in succession. As much as I have been against what DC did, I think it would actually be beneficial to Marvel.
But then again, only with a full commitment to being a company with a followed plan instead of the pure mess of a puzzle that it is today.

As much as I have been against what DC did, I think it would actually be beneficial to Marvel. But then again, only with a full commitment to being a company with a followed plan instead of the pure mess of a puzzle that it is today. The sad truth is that the new DC 52 has some titles that won't last a year and some that might last 2 years max. I give DC credit for at least trying books like: The Omac Project, The Blackhawks, Sgt. Rock and Our Men at War, All-Star Western, Demon Knights, Frankenstein: Agent of Shade, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Voodoo, Grifter, Stormwatch, Resurrection Man, and others. But lets be honest these here, while some of these books MIGHT be good or hell a few of them could even be great they are not books that will last a year or the title will not survive a creative change. Due to the very reason they're not big name characters but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be given a shot at an ongoing series. When I wrote that list I knew that it would include some possible duds (in this or any other reality), that doesn't mean that Crossgen characters couldn't be included into an all new and all different Marvel Universe Also note that Peter Parker is an agent of Shield and doesn't mean he's in The Amazing Spider-Man as Spider-Man (it could be one of the already established alternate Spider-Men or a brand new guy) or that Parker is the only Spider-Man in my take on a new Marvel Universe. My take on the 2099 titles the same way Valiant used books like Magnus, Robot Fighter and Rai to establish that this THE only and true future of the Marvel Universe. I don't know about you but I'm sick and tied of possible futures and alternate timelines.
