However, this time when the Mainstream book returns, the second tier book will keep going. This almost puts a "Y" fork in the road as 2 comics will continue and the mainstream will pick up in numbering like it never left but now it runs along with the second tier book. This timeline won't be straight. It basically has a bunch of penises hanging off it.
In any event, I would prefer that it stay with the original numbering or if you're going to relaunch, don't keep going back to the original numbering, just keep on with your relaunch numbers.
I can see it now, Detective Comics and Action Comics will revert back to original numbering once they get to 1000. To me, this is all just sadness. How can kids be taught to collect if even grown adults can't figure out the numbering???
The Fantastic Four's numbering is easy to figure out when you compare it to The Transformers.
Try to stay with me on this one: The Transformers had an 80 issue run at Marvel US. Now when IDW gets the rights to the franchise they do a fresh start or an all new G1 Universe (that is what the original Transformers characters from the 80s are called) and when Furman posted at his blog that he wanted to a continuation of his Marvel run, (similar to what Larry Hama is doing with G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero), and of course the crybaby fans rallied behind Furman and forced IDW to do the series, but there was one problem: IDW was already publishing a series called The Transformers.
So in order to give Furman and the crybabies what they wanted they're going to cancel their The Transformers ongoing series with a special #125 (this was the total number of all the various G1 mini-series, one shots, maxi-series, and the ongoing series that IDW had done over the years) and because of fans pointing out how confusing that their "last" issue being numbered #125, so they retitled it The Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime.
Now in January IDW will reluanch the IDW G1 Universe in two all new ongoing series called The Transformers: Robots in Disguise and The Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye. With the continuation series most likely starting in May (and that is just my GUESS) and will probably have a FCBD special issue like an #80.5 (again this is just a guess although they did do this with G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero) type issue. Also IDW has stated that right now the continuation series will only go up to #100 and that might change depending on sales, and IF Furman wants to go on.
Now if you're not totally confused I must state this: Marvel's G1 Universe is NOT[/u] the same as IDW's G1 Universe.
So it currently breaks down like this:
The Transformers #1-80 Marvel US
The Transformers #1-32 and #125/The Death of Optimus Prime IDW
The Transformers #80.5 and #81-100 IDW
And that is not counting Marvel US and IDW's mini-series, maxi-series, and one-shots and not to mention the Marvel UK and Dreamwave G1 comics.
And trying to make matter even more confusing that are some of the morons over at the IDW boards that want the continuation series to some how feature the Marvel UK numbering which would put the numbering in somewhere around #331!
And by the way The Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye was the title of an 8 issue profile series that Dreamwave, (the company that had the rights before IDW did), put out and not to mention that Dreamwave had 10 or 11 issues of yet another all different G1 ongoing series set in yet another G1 Universe before they went out of business.
The Fantastic Four fans never had to deal with this kind of crap that I have to put up with for over 25 years!
