The title pretty much says it all. What in your opinion was the one comic book that was the best comic book all year? Yes, hype CAN be a factor. So can resale value and heat. But it doesn't have to be. It can be a comic no one hardly even knows. The only criteria it has to have is it had to came out in 2009.

Coming up blank. I can't even rank Jim Shooter's Legion stuff on the list because the art completely sucked.

Since I wasn't able to buy comics this year, I have no legitimate vote. I tried thinking what generated a lot of hype this year and I must say in terms of hype, I remember very little to nothing about comics being hyped for this year. It seemed to be from a comics standpoint, to be a dud year in terms of fan excitement. I kept looking for a standout story and it just never seemed to materialize.
Although it doesn't fan under comic, I think the biggest event of the year was the announcement of Jim Shooter taking over some Valiant and Gold Key characters at Dark Horse, due out sometime next year, if not killed by lawsuit issues by VEI. I think more than any comic that came out this year, Jim Shooter seemed to be the most hyped event all year.

I can't think of a single issue that gave me a boot knocker this year. Good stories but nothing worthy of a single issue coming to mind.

I can't think of a single issue that gave me a boot knocker this year. Good stories but nothing worthy of a single issue coming to mind. I didn't get to read new comics this year, so I obviously don't know, but I tried hard thinking of which comic created the most buzz, or which comic had the big event that changed everything? And I just dont remember anything from this year and I've been trying hard. I think last year people said Batman #681. And I remember a few years ago it was Countdown to Infinite Crisis. I'm wondering if Amazing Spiderman #583 would qualify (Obama issue)? It seems we were talking about it a lot in January, but was it a comic that came out in 2009 or 2008? It seems very close. I want a comic that came out specifically in 2009. Its funny, I KNOW I had a best comic of 2007 thread, but I can't find it! And I know I had one. There is only 1 thread about 2007 and I know Ive done this every year I've had my site open. I'll have to look around and see if I missed bringing it over to this section. But anyway.... I'm looking for picks for best comic of 2009! Come on people! What was this years high water mark in terms of either best story, or biggest hype or earth shattering moment!

I think the hottest book this year was Chew #1.

I think the hottest book this year was Chew #1. Now that's the kind of reply I was looking for! Not that I know or care anything about this book. I do know it was making a lot of noise when it came out and I kept hearing how hot it was and how people were hunting it down for escalating prices. So that Az is a very good nomination for comic of the year! Thank you!!! Anybody want to put up any other nominees? Remember biggest or best or most hyped attention getting comic of 2009! What else could contend or does any one else agree it was Chew #1?
