Been reading that VEI plans on bombarding fans with #1's month after month while also cancelling Bloodshot and Hard Corps. They had an interview with Dinesh and others proclaiming they are being asked what is a good jumping on point so they claim they answered their fans by making every month have at least one #1. This they say will give fans perfect jumping on points. And they are trying to say this gives everyone a chance to see how cohesive their universe will be as well as they haven't begun to uncover all the possibilities that already existed in the Valiant universe.
Of course you have to see through the positive spin that they are looking for increased sales with more #1's and may be showing even more signs of trouble. But already VEI is becoming mediocre looking just like the rest. It feels like they are putting a lot of hope into the upcoming Rai#1 and hoping it carries over to other titles.

This will not help them. All it does is make their universe a more convoluted mess.

Evidently, Valiant doesn't have anyone very good at proofreading. More reasons "then" ever?!!! df1

Wow, if that was a promo card it could be an error copy. Awful that they wouldnt notice that.

It looks like they are tying Harbinger & Bloodshot into the XO storyline because XO has been doing the best at holding readers. Obviously they discovered no one cares about Q&W and so they've combined it with A&A to try and combine readership. I'm betting the sales bump from this is marginal. Doctor Mirage was a horrible character. I guess anything they can do to change him will make him more interesting. I find it hard to believe that anyone on a tight budget is going to say "Hey! I've gotta have that!" I never cared for Rai, but he has a following. It'll be interesting to see if his title comes out on top that month.

I think you're spot on on your observations. Ive been thinking they are pinning a lot of hope on Rai. He was only decent during his original 8 issue run and Id narrow that down to the first four or five issues.
The problem with Valiant characters is they have a very short freshness state unless being involved in something supremely crafted like the original pre Unities. Every attempt to get these guys going again has been short lived at best. This looks like a smoke and mirrors ploy to make things look great but I see Rai as the only one with a decent shot and 5 issues in he wont be fresh anymore.
Whenever I go on Twitter, which isnt often, but when I do, all I see is VEI endlessly retweeting any tweet where anyone says anything good about them. They are trying so hard to seem like they matter.

Whetteon posted a link to this article. investcomics.com/features/comics-sales-2014-january-surprise-high-and-low-sales-reportValiant had nothing reaching 10,000. Their introduction title to grab new readers couldn't even muster up sales of 2,000 copies even with a $2 cover price. The article says 70% of the stores are not ordering any indy titles. That means that only about 450 stores are ordering Valiant with an average of 21 copies per store. Is 1:20 a common ratio for variants? df1

Or maybe two 1:10's. Dang reading that made comics in general and overall pathetic. Besides the Valiantfans.com board, is there anyone else buying these comics? I didnt think they would end up this low. As much as I hate to admit it, the books havent looked that bad compared to others. I figured it would have attracted a few fans besides Gregs board, but now VEI is appearing despirate and trying to hide that.

I think the evaluation is accurate and comics are doing pathetic. As more and more Valiant #1's come out, people will care less and less. Especially if they are just rehashing the same characters.

OMG! Valiant is further screwing their fans. Sonicdan posted the May 2014 solicitations... www.newsarama.com/20342-valiant-comics-full-may-2014-solicitations.htmlRai #1 will have a $3.99 edition and a $4.99 edition with 15 bonus pages. How badly can you screw a collector AND a reader in one swipe? X-O #25 will also be $4.99. They are really screwing themselves AND the fans. df1
