Wow! I counted 8 different versions of the Rai comic and 5 versions of the X-O comic. No comic had fewer than 2 versions each. That to me is the biggest difference with this version of VEI. I actually believe had they released just ONE cover for each comic, they would have done better than all this multiple cover crap that just makes it look like you don't have confidence of ANY cover being good enough on it's own.
In this respect, I actually respect the Acclaim version better. They had a "couple" of variant covers, but not an across the board raping of it. A variant should be a once in a while special moment at the most. When any title does it for every issue, there is just NO REASON to buy the comic. No matter how hard you try, you're going to feel you are missing something.
I think VEI is fucking themselves. I can see why Greg is so defensive of everything. The truth hurts with them. They are becoming just another boring comic company running out of ways to grab attention.

I think the evaluation is accurate and comics are doing pathetic. As more and more Valiant #1's come out, people will care less and less. Especially if they are just rehashing the same characters. DF1 Exactly. #1's need to be about NEW characters. Not the 8th time this character has seen a #1.

The way to gain readers is to be modest about your offerings and let the readers decide if a character's reintroduction is important. Every solicitation I read sounds pretentious.
