Well, its down to 4 teams.
Cleveland vs Boston for the ALCS
and
Colorado vs Arizona for the NLCS
No surprise who I am rooting for. But I am pretty worried about Cleveland. If they win, I wont feel too bad. They have been a good team all year and deserve to go.
Does anybody even care about the National League?
I also feel it was a bad deal the way Steinbrenner did Torre at the end there. I mean, I dont hate any team worse than the Yankees. But you have to respect what Torre did there. I think giving him a public ultimatim showed a lot of disrespect. I mean, if he was going to fire him (Which I absolutely believe he will) he could have let the series end and then just have fired him. There was no need to do him that way.

I was a long time Indians fan, I jumped on the Indians bandwagon when they were a bad team in 1989 (the movie Major League made me want to be an Indians fan) and watched them build a great young team that made it to the World Series but could never quite get it done. Their problem always seemed to be a lack oif pitching. That's why it's great to see an Indians team now with solid starting pitching. I don't count myself as an Indians fan nowadays (lost interest when I moved to Milwaukee), but I'll be rooting for them, sorry gowaltrip! Yes, the NL is boring, I don't care about either team. I'm just glad that the Cubs didn't advance as I really grew to dislike them this year as my Brewers were going against them in the NL Central. I do wish the Phillies had made it, as it would be great to have the area out here excited about baseball again. As for the Yankees, always glad to see them lose. As for the treatment of Torre, I expected no less from Steinbrenner. The guy is an ass.

Thats okay brotherj, I understand when it comes to your team. Im going to cheer hard as possible for my Red Sox. I know how long a team can go without a victory. All I need to do is look at my Celtics, My Redskins, My Bruins and Michael Waltrip for confirmation of the fact it can take years and maybe forever to see the good stuff happen. I have been fortunate enough to see great things from my teams. I remember the Celtics winning it in the 80s. When the Redskins won, at the time it was the biggest sport to me and the biggest win. Seeing 3 Superbowls years ago, I thought was the highlight of my sports life. But actually the biggest things for me was seeing Michael Waltrip finally win a race (I cheered for him since 1994) and he had NEVER won a race. And then finally on 2-18-01 he would get his 1st victory in the Superbowl, the Daytona 500. Im telling you....nothing will ever top that. I had never cheered so hard for somebody or some team all my life and when he won it...Im telling you...that was special. That is why I love sports. But, there was one other event missing. I had never seen my Red Sox win it all. My dad was a Red Sox fan all of his life and took me to a couple of Red Sox games at Fenway when I was a kid. I never forgot it and that is when they became my favorite team. My father would pass living his whole life without having seen them win it all. After years of Yankee heartbreak (and trust me, I lived every one of them) and not counting the Yankees, how about the Bill Buckner blunder of 1986....I thought maybe I would live my whole life not seeing them win the big one too...just like my dad. But, it finally came true in 2004 after being down 3 games to 0 to the Yankees in the ALCS. Again...another SPECIAL moment I got to see in sports as the Red Sox clawed all the way back and took the series 4 games to 3. Im cheering this year because you never know when the next one will be. However...unlike with the Yankees. If unfortunately the Red Sox lose and the Indians win. I vow I will cheer them on in the World Series. Because I have no love for the 2 National League teams represented. I would have much rather seen the Phillies and the Cubs. That would have been a heck of a lot more interesting. Anyway...I wont be hating the Indians. Ive just got to cheer for my team as Im sure you do. As far as the Brewers...I think they are getting closer. They have been a doormat it seems like for years and the last year or 2 they have been getting better. I wouldnt mind seeing them get a shot. I like cheering for teams that havent won things in a long time. And them and the Indians fit that bill. That is why I wont be devasted if the Indians win... But...I hop they dont. I wont lie. But if they do. I will cheer along with you in the World Series. Good luck

Its too bad one of us has to lose (Im very worried) because if the Red Sox wasnt in it...Id have a high probability of cheering for the Indians. Only a few other teams I would root for more if they were there...very few. So, baring a miracle that all my favorites suddenly got in. There would have been a good chance of me cheering for the Indians of the Red Sox wasnt in it. But...now, Im hoping for my team like Im sure you are yours. You're right. It is a long time. I waited 37 years of my life to finally see them win the big one. So I know the wait.

Okay, tonights the night. Brotherj, if your team wins I will cheer them on in the World Series. Once my team is out of it. I like going for the teams that have had rough histories and the Indians certainly have had a rough history. But....The Red Sox are my team from childhood on and I have to cheer for them as long as they got a heartbeat. My only hope is to get us back to Boston and hope the fans there can get us our Mojo back. The Indians have already proven they can beat Boston in Boston. So, no guarantee there by a long shot. They have major, major, major work cut out for them. 3 games under these conditions are brutal. But it all starts tonight. I think our pitching has been week this series except game 1 with Josh Becket. He has to be the hero and step back up and win us this game tonight. Looking at the rest of the series...I am gravely concerned even with us getting back to Boston. Hopefully our bats will wake up. Which has been a big concern this series as well. Not getting the clutch hits. I cant look futher than tonight because it could very realistically be all over tonight. And if so...congrats Brotherj. But, tonight I have to hope for the best and hope getting back to Boston cures what is ailing my team. Im not expecting to win this series. I really am not. But, I would like to see us go down with a fight and not a whimper.
