Getting on my first real solid urge in wanting to get back into comics in a long time. So much so I've asked my wife to go to Tidewater Comic Con in May. I haven't done nothing comic related in about 3 years. Buying wise it's been about 6. It feels long enough. I only want to buy old collectible comics of note that have significance to me. Plus I wouldn't mind finding a few decent Charltons. My wife has no comic experience, so this seems like more of a nerd adventure for her.

She doesn't have to care about the stories. David Mack gave me some artsy comics he drew and I gave them to my girlfriend. She liked them. She likes art. Defiant1

She isn't what I would call into art although she is a bit artsy, its not like she's into home paintings or even cartoon art. No, this is not something she has shown a mutual interest in. In fact my comics are currently in dangerous storage and I need to get them out.
I'm trying to get her exposed to going to comic cons or comic stores with me. She has zero experience. I'm pretty good at getting my mates into comics. 1 ex girlfriend bought the entire collection of The Tick all originals. Which I inherited when we split. My first wife got all 152 issues of The Defenders, which I also inherited. For that reason, I'm reluctant to start this with my current wife. I mean if they all give their comics to me when they split even the ones who did show love for it, it obviously wasnt. So I'm hesitant. This time I want to get back in myself and it would be easier if she tagged along.

Thankfully, my girlfriend likes art in general and she sees comics as an extension of art. She also likes Manga of which I'm not a fan. Her appreciation of comics and art takes up where mine leaves off. She has other people try to indoctrinate her with the popular comic of the month or works by popular creators. When she reads them and says she isn't impressed, I get to agree with her. There are some collected stories that I'd like her to read, but they are out of print. I'd have to special order them and I don't buy things online. I wanted her to go to Dragon Con just to see the freaks that show up. We are both very private introverts, so I could tell she didn't want to go. I keyed in on her lack of desire to go and never pressed the issue further. She's never been able to go anywhere without guys harassing her. Guys always want to hook up with her and won't take no for an answer. The night I'd met her, she'd just thrown a guy over a table because he wouldn't leave her alone. I saw her walking through a crowd and snubbing her nose at everyone and that's why I fell in love at first site. She was very discerning with regards to who she let into her life. I'm drifting off the subject, but I just wanted it clear that I respect her decision not to go to crowded places. She liked my cartoon and encourages me to draw more. She even bought me a drawing pad for my computer. I'm not using it because it installed a bunch of crap that I don't trust. Defiant1

I think she us open minded enough to come but it probably isn't on her list of things most wanted to do. I believe if she went, it'd open up some interest. We're also going to check out the geeks too as a draw to it. She just needs some exposure.

Got a lot to catch up whenever you got the time. I thought my first hint was saying my comics are in dangerous storage right now. That aside, since last May I'm now a RUral Route Carrier with the United States Postal Service. Weird, now I drive my car while sitting in a passenger's seat. I like the job a lot but I can honestly say I've never worked harder in my life. I've lost a ton of weight. Under 200 for the 1st time this century. How are you doing these days?

Under 200 for the 1st time this century. How are you doing these days? My sister was a rural route carrier in the panhandle of Florida. I don't think she's doing it anymore. I assumed you were living in some place that was....hmmm.... cozy... and forced to store your stuff in an outside shed or something. Work has been slow, but we are supposed to be busting at the seams later in the year with guaranteed work for the next decade. We have a new product that's never been built before and it's for a new customer that evidently taboo to say by name. I suspect that Trump will eff things up since our parent company is outside the US. My girlfriend is still out of state but we are bonded closer than when she was here. It was love at first sight when I met her and almost 11 years later I love her just as much and nothing she says flusters me or makes me insecure anymore. We sometimes exchange 20 emails or texts a day. Other than my doctor telling me all the horrible ways that I'm dying, I feel as good as ever. The pollen is kicking my @$$, but that's been going on since 2006 when it was making my throat swell shut. Defiant1
