Wow! What a difference a year makes! After finishing dead last in the East last season with a 24-58 record, the Celtics (my team!) are off to their best start in 20 years at 6-0 and the only undefeated team at this point. The pickups of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett combined with Paul Pierce has turned this laughing stock into a legitimate contender overnight! Although I am certainly not going to predict anything like that. It does seem at this point that playoffs are a certainty. For me personally, its good to see my Celtics doing good again. Its been a LONG time since they last looked like the 16 time Champions they are. All the way back to Larry Bird's and Kevin McHale and the Chief's heydays. We havent been the same since the Len Bias overdose. Its good to seem them finally recover!

I should have talked about this more last year. But I didn't. The Celtics have put together a great team. Won the championship last year...wooooohooooo! And off to a 22-2 start this year and currently riding a 14 game winning streak! It's really amazing when I think 2 years ago they only won 24 games the entire year and had the worst record in the league! I'm hoping they can do it again, but repeating is hard to do so I wont predict. I'm just publicly hoping!

As you know, Danny Ainge put that team together. Ainge played for and then coached my Phoenix Suns, and I watched on with interest as he acquired Garnett and Allen to team with Pierce and co. The Lakers look soft defensively lately. If the Celts stay healthy I think they'll win another title this year.

I'm real concerned with tomorrow night's game! After dealing with the Bruins loss, which is a slight blow for me really when I think about it because generally I do not care about hockey, I find myself on pins and needles with the Celtics.
1st of all, I would never expect them to go all the way this year. The loss of Kevin Garnett is too extreme. But I have to say Doc Rivers has done an awesome job up to this point. Every player is a role player and knows their role! What I enjoy most about the Celtics is their scrappiness and pride. The Cleveland Cavaliers have won all 8 of their playoff games by double digits! They havent even been challenged yet. I just want to see if the Celtics can make them squirm just a little. If they get blown out 4-0, that is one thing and actually would be expected. But if they win a game, who knows how much they can make Cleveland work? I think it will come down to pride!
Which is where tomorrow night's game rests. The Magic are totally capable of beating the Celtics. They won game 1 in Boston. Boston has already had to go 7 against the Bulls and now 7 with the Magic. Eventually the tank will run dry. They have been playing on fumes for weeks now! I just want to see if they can muster up that Celtic pride one more time and make it to the next round where it will finally be.......okay..........if they lose. As for tomorrow night......it will not be! I'll be glued to the set watching this one. Come on Celtics! One more time!

I guess it was just not meant to be. The Celtics lost convincingly by 19 points. I kind of feared they were doomed after losing game 6 in Orlando. It seemed like the Celtics have been squeaking by all playoffs and I really think they played beyond expectations giving how banged up and spent this team was. But they just couldn't muster another win. The offseason was calling and they need a well deserved break. The pundits say they have 1 more season left in them if Kevin Garnett can stay healthy along with Pierce and Allen. If that core 3 can stay healthy one more time, they could do it again. But this year they just got too banged up and pushed too far for too long. Im devastated they lost but I must say they played with tremendous heart and lifted my spirits watching them fight valiantly against all odds. Better luck next season Boston!

I have to say, I was very proud that my Boston Celtics was able to beat the team with the best record in the league this year, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Considering they were a force all year and this was maybe Lebron's last season with them, I figured they would be too much for us. But they proved a solid team effort beats a team with just a Superstar every time.
I don't expect us to beat the Magic, but I'll watch with undying interest anyway. Last year they beat our unhealthy team, but it took all 7 games. It should be another slugfest.
