So many posters seem to be identified with their avatar and their posting style and stories. But what is the human side that lives on earth like? What job do you have? Married or single? What is different about you? Do any of the threads here pertain to you more than others? In short, write about yourself and tell the rest of us who you are.
Thanks! ;D

Might as well make my first post here. First of all, a smart comment..."married or bi"? Anyway, I go by Brother J, picked that handle because it was the name of a rapper I was listening to a lot at the time I picked a handle, plus since my first name (Joe) starts with a J I figured it fits. I'm married with two dogs, have just moved back to the Philly suburbs after living in Milwaukee, WI for 8 years. We have a brand new custom made house in a great development and I finally have my own room for comics only! Also, I'm a big baseball fan, as is my wife. We actually met in a baseball chat room on AOL, and we've been married almost 7 years (so some of those internet relationships DO work out!) I'm looking for work right now, as well. I had taken a job a couple weeks back but quit the same day, for various reasons. So I'm back on the hunt now.

Hey everybody..I'm Joey Boyack. I'm married with 3 kids, and have owned a comic shop in Va.Beach,Va. called Comic Kings since 1993. I met Tommy (GOWALTRIP) art school back in 1983 and have been friends ever since, although we don't get to hang out like we used to,especially since he bought the house down in North Cackalacky! Cool site you got here Tommy, good luck with it!!

Joey....now I have 1 more reason to be embarrassed next time I go to your store! Me and Joey go way back like he said. I met him in art school. He was funny as hell. He used to draw "Bill the Cat" and almost get himself crying from laughter as he drew him. As well as Aerosmith Cartoons. When it came down to doing black n white drawings with different shaded pencils. Joey could make them look like real photos. One of Joey's real hidden talents (and I think he should do it more) is he's a heck of an artist. I can draw, and I can draw good when I take my time. But Joey can do a pencil drawing into a black n white photo. He's that good. Anyway, I dont know how, but through the years we have been friends. I wish I could have hung out a lot more with him, but circumstances more than anything dictated that. He honestly gave me the biggest tip I ever had with comics (filling me in on Valiant's before they exploded) and it paid off handsomely for me. And he has the coolest comic store in our area. None better. Ive purchased a lot of good stuff there. But usually I dont have a ton of money. So, I go through his $1 boxes and I swear, he has stuff in there that some dealers would try and get $3, $5 and even $10 for some of the stuff I have pulled out of there. Id love to do what he does for a living. Im sure it has its struggles too. But he "Works 4 No 1" and he's doing it by doing something cool. So, every time I listen to another call or get chewed out by a rep because they didnt like the score I gave them....I wish I had Joey's job. Anyway....hey Joey. Glad you showed up. I know you dont have a lot of time for this, but if you stop by once in awhile, I will appreciate it. And I still think as an owner to a store, you could offer a ton of insight I cannot easily get. So please, if you have something to share...please do! Take care Joey!

Like BroJ, this looks like the best place for my first post. This is a darn cool board you've got here, GoWal!
I am married with 3 kids & have lived in central Indiana all my life. I work as a damage appraiser for a large insurance company. Been there a bit over 9 years. I'm also going to school a couple nights a week, trying to better the job if I can.
I'm here because I'm a big comic book fan, like several of you.

Not my first post on this board, but here goes.
Age 34 and a third (almost), engaged to be married (circa 2010), 3 cats, a job as a mental health nurse and a fan of comic books since I was 6 years old. It is that which brought me here from "elsewhere" (thanks for the link guys!). My first comic book was Brave and the Bold 153 with Batman and the Red Tornado. Reddy has been one of my top ten favourite comic book characters ever since. Batman isn't bad either!
I may use the forums as a sound off for some current books that I think need some love (Immortal Iron Fist; Jack Staff; Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters; Wildguard; Shadowpact; Newuniversal - how I want thee to return).
Anyway that is a little about me.
Thanks for the space, gowaltrip!

Welcome Leon!
I wish I started collecting comics at age 6. That means I would have started in 1973 and would have a lot keys than I do have now. I think I actually had that Brave and Bold #153 because it is bringing some memories. I know I had a Brave and Bold with Batman and Red Tornado. Correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think they shared a cover story twice did they? Im also think Aparo had something to do with it, but not as confident there.
You believe in long engagements dont you? Good man.
Please sound off on new books, old books, anything you like. Im trying hard to get the comic section going.
Thanks for the post and hope to see you around!
