I completed my Charlton Checklist with the moral support from Gowaltrip. Out of that, I've been trying to fine tune the accuracy on some parts of the checklist. The first of two issues for me has been accurately listing the Bluebird Comics. There are variations on these and my list is a best guess which nobody has disputed. The other issue revolves around the digest publications. Doug Sulipa's prices and comments intrigue me. He tosses around the words scare and rare. Those alway perk up my cynical side. That inspires me to search elswhere.... hmmm! He might just be right!!! What are they? What do they look like? What is their history?... Are they really rare? and why? Today I bought this beat up publication off ebay... Doug Sulipa lists it on his Charlton page, but he calls it a predecessor to the Charlton digests. I bought it for less than he's charging, so when I get it... I'll know more about what it is. For now I won't say everything I know about these digests. I will share the fact that they've piqued my curiosity. Somewhere shrouded by oblivion, I have a list of digest comics. I would love to create a list online to compliment my treasury comics page. Mini Comics are also something that interests me. For now though, it's these Charlton digests that Doug Sulipa describes in low grade details. cfs

Thanks for the words C, but actually it is the other way around, it is you who has piqued my interest in Charltons. I think I was well on my way to getting into them and would have probably no matter what happened, but you pushed me right off the cliff and into sheer loving them when you sent me a bunch of them and really boosted my collection. I have to say, for being viewed as junk for so long and by so many....I really love them. Then you made the checklist to let me know just how far I need to go to have anything. Again, the most I ever seen a dealer have at a show or a store is 2 full boxes. Im almost there! So, thanks to you for pushing me over that cliff and getting me way further along than I would have been. ;D Also, its good to see you get a book here and there. The hobby is in need of keeping its long time fans. I feel you do plenty to keep the torch lit for other people. Its even better if you can find stuff that interests you. I feel comics have so much out there, that even when you are totally turned off to the medium, there is always something out there that can peak your interests. Ive told my wife...next time we have a day off and Im in town (the big town)....Im going comic shopping. Dammit, Ive been way too long! Its time to buy some comics. P/S....hope you book is rare. Getting rare stuff is always the best!

Ordered a Bugs Bunny Digest from Pendulum Press also. These were evidently distributed in schools if I'm not mistaken. Most are beat up. Doug Sulipa seems to think they are rare. While I haven't found many on comic book websites, I am finding them through the book finder search link that I have on my Treasury Comics page. www.bookfinder4u.com/Last time I used this I located some of the Nintendo Action books, but they were beat up also. cfs

I could never really get excited about Chartlon, Dell or anything else non super-hero but I've always admire those who do. It's a tough field to collect and I'd imagine to complete a title must be a nightmare.
Nice snag cfs.

It's a tough field to collect and I'd imagine to complete a title must be a nightmare. Nice snag cfs. I'm into obscure. The grade on these is low, but when you only see one maybe two people selling one then it interests me more. I'm definitely not going for a full set of Charlton's and especially not Pendulum Press. I was kinda cherry picking the oddball publications and looking for the rarities that aren't Golden Age. I'm definitely bored with mainstream heroes. After shopping for Marvel comics so long, I've really seen most of the covers and they kinda bore me now. DC never really interested me much. cfs
