Roth talks too much.
I'm glad he's enthusiastic and that Eddie confirms the band is continuing. I've always felt that Eddie's wife broke the band up. Eddie says that she can hold her own. I'm sure that's true.

Ticketmaster is a total waste of time. The good seats are already sold. A friend of mine got VIP tix today which guarantees a seat in the 1st 20 rows and other benefits....not sure all what else is included, but he paid $300/ticket.Alot of bands websites have perks to where if you are a memebr you get a chance to but tix a day or 2 before the general public. I tried to get Rush tix from Ticketmaster the day they went on sale. I was doing it online and I was hammering away at the keyboard the second the tix were released (supposedly)...The 1st available seats I was able to get were 60 rows deep from the stage. Just look at Ebay the day any big concerts tix go on sale. It sucks, but it's every man for himself. There are programs these scalpers use to get the best seats as soon as the go on sale. It's a big market, and wherever there's good money to be made,it's tough to get in on the action. Good luck! You're gonna need it.

One problem with a show of this significance is that a large number of "good" (not always great) seats are going to be allocated to radio stations across the country. The year I got crappy tickets to U2, I heard a local radio station giving away tickets not only here, but to shows in other states. For them to have the tickets, they must not have ever been offered for sale. That sucks but it happens all the time. It used to be that you could go up to a show the day it was coming to town and get floor seats that were put back into the system. Those days are probably over.

Back in the day,we used to be upfront for every concert we went to.Here in our area, everything was general admission,so it was first come first serve,or nudge your way up through the crowd.Man it was so fun back then! My 1st show was Ozzy in 1982 a month after Randy Rhoads died. That era kicked ass! We saw Judas Priest,Maiden,Dio,Scorpions,Motley Crue...all in their prime! I had never been to a reserved seat concert until about 1987 when we went to Washington DC to see Motley Crue. We get in and see people on the floor in chairs. At a heavy metal concert! Needless to say we had a good time, but really couldn't make out way up front because of the damn chairs. Nowadays, when the big shows come to this area,it's to the Amphitheatre and all that shit is reserved seats.Once in awhile they'll have a show that offers a pit section, which is the orchestra seating area directly in front of the stage, with all the seats gone and it's open floor.Thats the only time I go. Shit is so expensive these days. We went to Baltimore to see Heaven & Hell this past May..tickets $80 each for open pit tickets (face value $40 tickets but I had to buy them from a broker)....t-shirts were $35..and beer was $8...it's a freakin racket! I don't do that very often, and thats the first time I've bought a concert T-shirt in 10 years. I have never seen Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio though and Heaven & Hell is one of my all-time favorite albums. And they weren't coming around here so we took the road trip. I'm not that much of a Van Halen fan to drive 3-4 hours to see'em though. And I would only want to see them up close and it looks like that's gonna be all reserved seating for the beautiful people willing to shell out a couple hundred bucks a seat.

Yeah, that was me too Joey. We used to go and sit at the top nearest the stage and look down and......then come down and hit the floor and work your way to the front. It was work, but it was fun. Not too many times I made it to the actual front row. But I did for Ozzy. I got right to Jake E Lee's feet when they played Iron Man. Cool as hell.
I havent been to a real concert in years. Actually, the last concert I went to was at the amphitheater. I saw...guess who? David Lee Roth with Sammy Hagar. Well, I seen all of Hagar and just the beginning of Roth because stupid Mike W (you know who Joey) decided to throw a french fry on a guy standing up in front of him.(Like people dont stand up at concerts?) And gets in a fight. He got thrown out and since he was our ride, we had to go too. Pissed me off. That was a B-Rated or even C-Rated version and I was enjoying it.
Van Halen is just one of my childhood favorites. I dont care as much for them these days as I did then. Probably never will. But, its enough to want to see them once last time. Heck, who knows if they will even finish this tour (Im sure they will). But who says there will be another one? I think I just want one last chance to see them. I want to turn my kid onto them. And my wife has never been to a concert. I think this will be a good place to start. Yeah, general seating will suck and if I am lucky to get tickets, I will be in nosebleed heaven. But....Im willing to do it.

Well....Im in!!!
It was nerve racking, but I think I got pretty good seats. Cost a lot though....
Im on the left side lower level looking down on the front part of the stage. It says they are full view seats. Im on the 7th row of the lower level. I used to watch shows from that vantage point all the time. I think we will be in good shape!
I think I need to go buy a few cds and hand them over to my son and say....we're going...so get used to these songs!
Im not happy about the money I spent. But, I think I did okay. Hopefully! As long as they dont put some sky scraping speakers at the side of the stage, I should have pretty good seats!

A lot of people don't realize that just being rich costs a lot of money. If your money is tied up in assets, you don't have it to spend. You can bet that the need for money will keep them together for this tour. I saw that Valerie was acting again. DLR has been trying to get back on the map for years. Eddie had his medical bills. They all knew there was money to be had if they were willing to do a reunion. I think the time was just right that Eddie needed this tour to sustain his wealthy lifestyle.

Well...I got my tickets this week. I hope the show is worth it. Sometimes things like this dont live up to the way you remembered them before. I used to think Van Halen was kind of heavy when I was a kid and when I listen to them now they sound real poppy and not very heavy at all. Still, I think Eddie can play his ass off. And Dave can hopefully still get an audience going. And I dont remember Alex being special at drums but certainly able to get the job done. The one disappointment is not seeing Michael Anthony who I thought was a monster in concert on bass (much better than recorded work). Wolfgang will have his work cut out for him to fill his shoes. I'm hoping for the best.

They could be heavy at times...Ain't Talkin 'bout Love,Unchained,Runnin' With the Devil,Somebody Get Me a Doctor,And the Cradle Will Rock,Mean Street...They'll probably do 2 of those songs. It's gonna be greatest hits tour with all the radio crap that we've heard for 25 years. I hope it's worth the dough you spent. Just think, you could've spent that loot on some cool comics!!

Yeah, I find some of Van Halen's greatest songs were not always the ones you heard the most on the radio. I mean, I love the work, but I am about sick of the Van Halen 1 album and all the hits that created. I mean, they are good songs. But, Ive just heard them way too many times. Im much more interested in hearing songs from Women and Children First, Fair Warning and Diver Down...and to an extent, the non-hits from Van Halen 2 and 1984.
I could have bought some real nice comics with the money I spent here. You're right. But, I havent been to a real concert in like 10 years. I mean, I went to David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar about 4 years ago with Mike, but we got kicked out. And, I felt like that was a B or even a C rated show to begin with. Im having a real hard time remember what was the last concert I seen before that? Heck, it might have been 15 years since I seen a good concert. Im thinking the last good big named show I seen was probably Rush around 1992 - 1994. That's a long time.
I remember when I was a teenager, I was big on Van Halen and I was pissed off when they broke up in 1985. I was the one wishing they would get back together ever since. I guess it might of been the equivalent of Joe Perry leaving Aerosmith in the early 80s for you. (It was around 1981 when they had that hit "Lightning Strikes" without Joe Perry right??, which btw, I always liked that song). I kept telling myself if Van Halen ever got back together, I was going to go. Now, Im probably less hyped in 2007 then I would have been from say 1986 - 1995. But, hey Ive waited 22 years for this. Im probably up for a big let down. But, I had to do it. It's probably the last time I will have a chance.
Besides, my oldest boy has really gotten into rock in the last year. I turned him onto Metallica (yep, I corrupted him) and now he owns all the early thrash albums and he listens to it every day all day. Ive tried expanding his horizons and he is a slow adaptor. He seems to have expanded a bit to Disturbed (which I dig) and Lincoln Park (which is so-so to me). But, he hasnt expanded far beyond that. Ive tried getting him to pick up my bass, but he wont do it. I told him he was going to Van Halen, he looked clueless. I played a few You-Tube songs for him (which sadly were the poppy hits) and he looked interested in going, but kinda had a doubtful look about it. He's never been to a concert and neither has my wife. It will be a 1st for both. The one thing I remember when I seen the original Van Halen in 1984 is the crowd was in a frenzy and it for me was one of my favorite shows I ever seen. Eddie blew me away. Michael Anthony blew me away. And David Lee had the crowd pumped. It's probably too much to ask that again. I almost feel like Im going to leave this show disappointed. My expectations are too high and Ive waited too long. And, I have 2 unbelievers to convert.
But, its my last chance Im sure. I couldnt pass it up.
