I agree with Angel Dust being the high water mark. It is an experience to listen to it loud from beginning to end. I can actually get uncomfortable listening to it sometimes, but that is part of the beauty of it. Im not disturbed because the music is bad, on the contrary, I think it's genius. I just think it gives glimpses of insanity at the same time it just puts out track after track of good original music with a different sound on nearly every song. But I think a lot of people just didnt get it when it comes to Angel Dust. It was too weird. "The Real Thing" is more mainstream rocking and gives FNM their signature sound. Even that album shows just how diverse they could be. But its mainly more of a flat out rocker.
Sadly, I have never had King for a Day or Album of the Year and I really want them. I have heard some tracks off of each though and there are some real beauties. Judging by what I know, I think I am more hopeful on Album of the Year which is sadly their last but I hear it went off on a high note. I had no idea but I could have seen them during this tour. If I knew then it would be their last, I would have. I hear that King for a day is when they were going through a lot of turmoil and the tracks are not as strong except for some bright spots.
Sadly, I yearn for them to get back together just once like Van Halen so I can catch them live one time. A new album would be too much to ask. But seeing them once is a hope I will not give up on until they start dying off.
