I loved them The only time I got to see them live was in 1992 (possibly 1991, sure it was 92 though). They were second of three bands on the bill, and Mike Patton was amazing. He had the audience throwing their rubbish onto the stage, which he proceeded to put into a plastic bin bag. A drink carton hit him in the head causing him to bleed, but he carried on filling that litter bag!
Oh and the other bands on that day? Soundgarden and Guns and Roses. I was given the ticket as a birthday gift by friends. Wow.

I actually went into town shopping with the wife tonight. We were about 40 miles from home. Lo and behold I happened upon FNM's Angel Dust for $9.95!!! And it was scooped up immediately. My wife knows I have been wanting this album for at least a month so we listened to it on the way home. I had it blasting as we rolled through the countryside. Then track #12 came on "Jizzlobber" (2nd video on this page) which is by far the heaviest song on the album and should only be played as loud as possible. I busted into pure headbanging and screaming along. My wife said she was actually enjoying the album until " The Satan Song" came on!!! Ahhh! Life is good again!

I can't listen to that. I'm just not into their stuff. I tried. I prefer something like Motorhead or WASP.

I would love to see them live. The Crimson Idol CD is a classic! Blackie impressed me as being fairly intelligent. I met him and Chris Holmes at an in-store signing. Back when "Animal (F@#K Like a Beast)" was exhibit A in the PMRC's campaign to ban music, I had about 5 different copies of the single on multi-colored vinyl. That used to crack me up. Eventually though they couldn't use in their campaign it because it was an import only. I don't know if I saw them 2 or three times. I saw them either right before or right after the second album. I think it was before. I saw the again on the Headless Children tour which was awesome!! I may have seen them inbetween. I have a few of the albums after that, but Headless Children & the first album are still my favorites. Their version of "Paint it Black" is incredible. It sound so purely evil compared the the Rolling Stones version. Blackie discovered Chris Holmes in the beaver hunt section of hustler magazine. He was telling the story when I met them. It was kind of funny. He was also laughing at some teenage girls saying they were in love with Dokken's George Lynch. He was telling them how old George Lynch was and reminding them of the 20 year age difference. They are both very tall. cfs

Only thing I remember by them was "Im blind in Texas". That was a cool song. That's one of my least favorite. The only song that stands out musically for me on the second album is "Wild Child". When I bought their first album, I replayed side one about 6 times before I ever flipped it over. I liked it so much, I just wanted to hear them all again. Eventually I flipped it over and liked Side 2 just as much. That album blew me away. Headless Children is excellent too. cfs

I regard Angel Dust as the high water mark creatively (although strangely I find The Real thing more listenable and accessible). that said there are some great later tracks such as Just a Man (on King for a Day) amongst their work. They are a band I can still happily listen to, which is more than I can say to a lot of late eightes/early to mid nineties music.
