I have fond memories of AC/DC and I have seen them twice. I think they may have been the loudest band I ever seen. I made the mistake of watching one of their shows while standing on the floor. And the bass drum just literally picked me off the ground every time it was hit. After a time of being hot and crowded and this bass just pounding like mad, I started getting sick. I couldnt hang. I had to eventually leave and go up into the balconys and sit. I developed this pounding headache. The show was so loud, especially on the floor. Probably the worst I ever felt during a concert. I beleive this was the 2nd time I seen them and I believe the "Flick of the Switch" tour.
The 1st time I seen them, I believe was the "For those about to Rock" tour. Which I enjoyed a great deal and didnt have the sickness problems. I didnt remember it being as loud. Even with the Cannons.
However, my love afair with AC/DC faded out probably after "Flick of the Switch" as the singer Brian Johnson's voice just started to sound like total crap in my opinion. I think one of the last songs I actually liked by them was Who made Who? After that, Johnson's vocals just annoy me too much.
Bon Scott had a voice I didnt think was all that great, but I loved the Highway to Hell album and I thought they were a very good band even before that, but certainly very raw and unpolished. So, I would say Hells Bells, Back n Black, For those about to Rock and Flick of the Switch is where it is at for me and AC/DC. A great band, but one I havent cared about in a long, long time.

Flick of the Switch is where they totally lost me too. Guns for Hire was the only good song on that album. I like Who made Who. I like Thunderstruck. I like "I feel safe in New York City"
I used to be friends with a lot of Jesse Dupree's friends. Jesse is the singer for Jackyl. He used to do a lot of AC/DC covers and I've always hoped AC/DC would let Brian Johnson retire and replace him with Jesse. It'll never happen, but Jesse can sing it all. Jesse used to be in a band called PG13 that I liked better than Jackyl. Although they were just a bar band, they were as talented as any major act. The last time I saw the guitarist for PG13, he was playing for Mothers Finest.
It looks like I saw AC/DC three times. All with Brian Johnson. I only remember seeing them twice.
I saw the "Let There Be Rock" movie with a 5000 watt sound system. Bon Scott was excellent live, especially in 78 & 79. I have a bootleg album titled Live 79. It's a lot of the same recordings used in the movie. Excellent stuff. Live Wire live is a favorite. I even have their Australian release of "High Voltage" (the album) with "Love Song". I don't think "Love Song" was released on any other album. That 1st album of theirs is one of my favorites. It leans more towards blues. Love "Soul Stripper" which is on the album.

I wish I could've seen Bon Scott live in concert. And would love to have heard him sing some songs off of Back in Black & For Those About to Rock. The AC/DC CD's with Bon are some of my all-time favorites!I like Brian Johnsons singing up until Flick of the Switch, but I'm also not a fan of anything past that album. His voice these days is terrible. I haven't seen them since the Flick of the Switch tour, but would like to see them atleast one more time.

That is AC/DC at there very best live. You also get the "Live from Atlantic Studios" promo record which I already owned on vinyl. It's solid, but it's a little flat and sounds like there is a crowd of 10 people applauding. A musician aquaintance I know is a big fan of them. He could play their songs precisely. He got every inflection down perfectly. You had to know how to play every AC/DC song to even be in his band. I asked him if he'd ever met them. He says "Oh Yeah, I got to hang out with them one day." He was friends with Jesse Dupree (Jackyl) so that didn't shock me. Brian Johnson was on Jesse's solo album from what I was told. Musician's all keep the same late hours. It's only a matter of time and timing before the pro's meet one another. That reminds me...I saw Lemmy from Motorhead in public once. He walked into a bar where I hung out. He looked around and saw all the rock and roll posers with the big hair walking around. He got a look of disgust on his face and walked right back out. I died laughing. cfs
