About 20 million fans have tried to get tickets for Led Zeppelin's one-off comeback concert, a spokesman for the gig said Thursday. The rock legends are reforming for a tribute concert at London's O2 Arena on November 26. The former Millennium Dome venue in Greenwich can hold up to 20,000 people. The three surviving members of the hard-rocking British band are to play together for the first time in 19 years in tribute to Ahmet Ertegun, the late founder of the Atlantic Records label, who signed the group in 1968. About 80,000 fans per minute are trying to register for tickets at the www.ahmettribute.com website, said Internet service provider Pipex. Demand for the 125-pound tickets also crashed the O2 Arena website.

I go through periods of liking Led Zeppelin and getting sick of their music. If it was a year ago, I would be sick of their music. Its played a lot and I am totally annoyed when everytime a "greatest rock song" countdown happens Stairway to Heaven usually snags either 1st or 2nd.
However, lately I have been in growing admiration mode for Led Zep. There is one particular song (I cannot remember the title right now, but its heavy on synth, violins and drums) Ive been hearing a lot on the radio lately (about a 5-6 min song) and Ive just been jamming to it. Its so awesome! Plus Ive always liked stuff that were on the edge of being hits but not their biggest, like Communication Breakdown, No quarter and Heartbreaker...certainly hits in their own rights, but not as big as others and just rocking. Once again, as long as it isnt a song you hear by them all the time, I typically love it.

These days,I usually turn the station if a Zeppelin tune comes on.In this area,it's usually 1 of 3-5 different songs they play on the radio. That is what kills me about radio programming...these bands have 10+ albums (Zep,Sabbath/Ozzy,Aerosmith,Metallica,etc),yet they play the same F'N songs to death. I have to say I do enjoy hearing famous bands do a cover of another band...like TOOL doing No Quarter (my favorite Zep song!),W.A.S.P. doing When the Levee Breaks,Pantera/Cat Scratch Fever,Pantera/Laguna Sunrise..are a few.I'd rather listen to their versions instead of the originals.

I was never a fan of Led Zepplin per se. I did like their last album which is the one most fans were disappointed with. I could stand a few hits, but normally could not tolerate Robert Plant's voice very long. I had a bootleg album I liked. I was told it was the last concert before John Bonham died. That album had a Jimmy Page solo I liked. I was later able to hear pretty much the same solo when he toured with the Firm.
I think they'd be good live, but I'm not a big fan of their music. I think that the ticket price would be well beyond whatever I'd be willing to pay to see them.
I was more of a fan of the Who.
