Countdown is starting to pick up it's pace now that it is getting closer to the end. The last two issues features Superman-Prime and were good reads. In fact since they changed the name of the title to Countdown To Final Crisis it has been a lot better. Hopefully this trend will keep up.

Did they change it to Final Crisis? Or is it Countdown? I read over at Lyria that they were growing tired of the Crisis, 52 and now Countdown mega series. They said this is wearing off on them. No, I did read half of Crisis and I have a couple of issues of 52. But none of Countdown. It seems a bit odd to me that after they were singing DC's praises about a year ago, they now are kicking dirt on it. What's your feeling Azbatx? Is the MegaSeries long in the tooth or still worth a read? Or are people longing for the days to read self contained titles again?

People complain about the crossovers and yet they still buy them. I don't mind the year long series as long as it keeps me entertained or keeps the storyline going in some direction. If you want a self contained story they are out there.

I have been on board for 52 then Countdown (renamed to 'Countdown to Final Crisis' in advance of 'Final Crisis'), and whilst 52 was near the top of my must read pile, Countdown/CtFC isn't. One of the reasons is that the main series has given rise to so many spin-offs, seemingly more than 52, that the whole project seems pretty bloated, that there is a lot of dead wood done as mini-series that could have been taken care of with one-shots or maybe in the main book itself with better writing/plotting and editorial oversight.
