Martinsville is typically a tough track. Another toilet bowl type of track, however this one is flat. Its actually the slowest race on the circuit but it makes for some great side by side racing. This one was no different. It appeared as though someone from Hendrick Motorsports was going to win this one which has surprisingly not won a race all season yet. But towards the end, pit strategy determined the victor. Denny Hamlin took fuel only to Jeff Gordon's 4 tires and came out ahead with 100 laps to go. Since the track was cool and wet, Gordon found the last set of tired not agreeing with him. Denny Hamlin would be the homestate driver driving off with the checkered flag. The race was never boring as there was 18 cautions and plenty of mishaps to keep up with. The race hardly had 10 - 15 laps without something interesting happening. Nascar has reeled off 2 excellent races in a row. Grade: A-
