That'll put you in it at $15 for the set. To me thats a good price, because they still sell in my store for $25-$30...I also got issues 3-7 in the .50 boxes.I had a good amount of 2's from the beginning..but those #1's are a bitch to find. I don't know about long term, but I think it will be a set that people will always buy.Did you come across anymore deals at the show?
Thanks for the feedback on the Civil War set, Joey. I went ahead and bought the issues I needed. I guess a good question now would be are Civil War #1-7 by themselves a readable story, or do you need all the various crossovers, as well?
As for the show, I'm very excited about a lot of the stuff I acquired. It was a very lightly attended show, and after the first hour, it was like a ghost town. The weird thing is they decided to have an auction, but they didn't have it until 12:00, when the show started at 10:00 AM. Like I mentioned above, there were very few people still there when the auction happened. Unfortunately, most of the auction stuff was crap. However, I did pick up an unsealed copy of the Solar: Alpha and Omega hardcover with slipcase and poster for $6 (the only item in the whole auction that had much bidding back and forth on it) and Fantastic Four #347, 348 and 349 for $2.
Most of my time was spent in one dealer's 50 cent boxes. He had a deal that if you bought 100, they were $30. I'll just mention the ones that were good deals and leave out the run filler books I bought.
Captain Carrot: Oz-Wonderland War #1, 3 (apparently these are in demand, StarBrand brought these to my attention)
Cerebus Bi-Weekly #20 (early Milk and Cheese)
Critters #3 (2 copies), 10, 14 (2 copies) (all Usagi Yojimbo covers)
DP 7 #32 (I love last issues!)
2 copies Green Lantern Vol. 2 #46 (commands a slight premium over surrounding issues, once hot, now not, I guess)
Groo #106, 113, 114 (late Groo issues seem to do well)
Micronauts Vol. 1 #1-39, 59 (these are in real nice shape, at least VF)
Prudence and Caution #1 Spanish Edition (again, not easy to find)
Punisher 2009 #34 (again, I love last issues)
Satanika #0, 9 (I always buy Verotik books from cheap bins)
2 copies Seduction of the Innocent 3-D #1 (Dave Stevens cover)
Solson Christmas Special: Samurai Santa (first Jim Lee art? I saw some guy had this book on his display wall so I figured it was a decent deal)
Spawn #1 3-D Mocca Exclusive
2 copies Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #2 (apparently this book has something to do with the Sinestro Corps stuff)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol. 4 #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 13 (very low print runs on these, a sleeper book for me)
The Visitor #11 (newsstand edition)
Ok, nothing world shattering, but it was fun rooting through the boxes. Wish I had found more Valiant-related items. I already flipped the Solar hardcover and Visitor #11 for a nice little profit. Not sure if it was really worth the long drive, especially on the way back as the weather was so bad.
In fact, I better get this posted quick as it is storming now.
