I also am first and foremost a comic book collector. I have 4 or 5 pages that wouldnt impress anybody and not even myself. But, I do like looking at the work that goes into making a page. Its inspiring as I like to draw myself. But as compared to the joy of owning a comic, it doesnt have the same feeling for me. At least not yet....
I always felt like Original Art is something you progress to when you're well established with Comics or you have money to afford worthwhile pieces. Its like an upper crust activity that I cannot currently take advantage of because I dont have the means.
Sure, I know there are pages out there for $30 - $40, but these are pieces that generally no one wants. For the same price, I can buy a nice comic book. For the kind of pieces I would want to buy in comic art, the low budget line of good stuff starts at the hundreds of dollars and only goes way up from there. If my comic collection was loaded with endless stock and I had the cash...why not. But, I think if I had expendable big money (I dont) but if I did....I think I would want some high dollar comic instead. It just seems something that I would end up appreciating more.

I too am willing to buy art just to analyze the details in case I want to draw again one day.
