Do you think the new owners have plans on creating actual monthly titles? And if so, do you think they can sway Shooter back into doing them? I'm just being hypothetical, but wouldnt they have to give him almost complete control for him to even consider it? I'd almost be willing to give it another real shot if he was involved on the day to day business. I realize the other pieces would still have to fall into place, but isnt that what he would try and do? Is this just way too much of a pipe dream and wishful thinking? What's the best we can expect? I don't think VEI will ever be able to justify publishing monthly titles. The money isn't there in the market and their market share will not be what DC or Marvel have. I think Shooter would accept work in the industry, but I think he wants something reliable. I think he wants to own his own company, not work for someone else who will pull the rug out. I've been told VEI has venture capital behind it. Venture capital wants ROI... Return on Investment. Lawsuits don't do that. Marketing expenses and legal fees don't do that. TPB's that require a lot of man hours and work to get the black lines and then recolor them... that takes money too. I don't care how well their initial offering did, that's the best their company will get for awhile. XO won't do as well. They don't own Solar. The real work comes when they have to get product made from scratch. As time goes by and more money is invested, it just escalates their problems. Either put out some product or sell it and eat the expenses. cfs

It seems a couple folks on Greg's board who should have info via Dino or Greg have strongly recently hinted at actual monthly titles.

You know, when I was placing my order for new books the other day, I came upon the X-O hardcover being offered. I think they had it on sale for $13 which is well below cover. The thing was, it had this lame Quesada cover. Now, he can generally put out some decent covers, but this was a head shot with his mouth open. The thing that bothered me his it looks like his bottom row of teeth is connected to his top row of teeth. Its not a very good shot for a collected volume hard cover if you ask me. The Harbinger one had a better shot, but I wasnt 100% impressed with that either, but that one wasnt half bad. The X-O cover is just lame in my opinion. You would think they could pick something better.
