Here is an Archie page I bought several years ago. I had stacks of artwork to choose from, but I wanted classic characters in classic situations with classic expressions. I settled for this and another I don't have scanned. cfs

You know, Ive always wanted to get a page or 2 of some Archie Artwork. When you compare a page you got with main characters in a good scene and compare that with a superhero page with main characters and a good scene. I would think you would pay a premium for the Super hero scene than you would the Archie. Archie is widely known enough that I wouldnt be ashamed to own it. I mean a splash page or a cover, I would think (I certainly wouldnt know) I wouldnt think it would be nearly as expensive. I have seen auctions where this stuff was on sale and generally it looked more respectable to get a splash or a cover than it would a mainstream popular comic. So, I personally wouldnt mind having 1 or 2.

You are correct and that was my sentiment in buying what I bought. You'd pay more for Al Hartley pages, but that's because more people know of him. I've actually considered going to a church near my home that is pastored by Al Hartley's son. I don't think he has much art left to sell, but it would be a nice secondary reason to meet him either way. There are still some work horses pumping out comics for Archie. Their names aren't as recognizable as Al Hartley, but their names deserve just as much respect for maintaining the quality. Bill Golliher is one such name. Another is Dan Parent. I'm sure there are one or two more.
