Putting up the comic background of the day today which is No Heroes #1, I realized I did not have a category for this company. Was that an accident? I decided to give them their own little corner over here.
How do you feel about Avatar.
Me personally, I've had mixed reviews with them. Although I did not like their revamp of Chaos comics at all, I do seem to like some of their comics. I also like that they are willing to be a bit different and not follow the same formula of covers we've been seeing the past 15 years. I find some of their stuff eye catching.
Im will to give them a chance and hope they mature as the age. I think they have potential as long as they stay away from producing too much garbage.

I have been buying a lot of their stuff lately. I have issues or sets of Black Summer, No Hero, Doktor Sleepless, 303, Black Gas, Chronicles of Wormwood, A Nightmare on Elm St., Friday The 13th, and more.
I just picked up the Black Summer and Doktor Sleepless Hardcovers. They are limited to 2000 copies each.
A lot of their earlier stuff I don't care so much about. I think they have been putting out a lot more quality stuff in the past 2 -3 years. Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis, Alan Moore are among some of their writers and creators.

I like their style. Something about them. I think they are starting to hit their stride. I do agree the early stuff did not appeal to me. But I have noticed their covers are getting more and more eye catching and that is half the battle right there. They are making me want to look.

No matter how much I may think I dislike a company, I always try to judge it more towards a title by title basis. There were companies I always felt I didn't care for and even then, I could find a title or 2 that seemed to rise above it all. Some companies may actually be dreck from front to back, but I find that to be very rare. Most all companies have something decent. If you would have asked me what I thought about Avatar a year or 2 ago, I probably would have been a lot more negative. They are certainly no where near a favorite with me, but I think they have a couple of titles that aren't half bad. I think they are worth a shot at picking up. I read most of No Hero #1 and it was pretty interesting. I liked it. But I doubt I will like most of what they put out. But I wouldn't write them off either.

Not buying or reading them. MOE Is there a reason why? I prefer superheroes. I bought a Warren Ellis thing they released once and I thought it was disgusting. Very Faust-like. I was hoping it would be more like Planetary.

I don't think people are ordering a lot of Avatar around me. I see it in Previews, but I'm not sure if I see everything they release. The ones I do see don't excite me. I was almost about to buy some stuff from Radical Comics, but the regular price appears to be $3.99 per book. The teaser price of $1 was nice, but I don't want to spend $4 for one comic every single month.

A lot of what Marvel is putting out now is already 3.99. DC is heading that way.
