You should download Irfanview which will let you tile different covers and connect them together. First side by side, the row by row up and down. You can lighten the image so that text is readble over the image.

Okay....Im rather liking the comic background. I mean, I love the skin too. But I kind of love the skin with the comic background. It seems to mesh 2 worlds pretty nicely to me and compliments each other. Any one else have a vote?

I'm going to reveal a fact. The strain on my eyes to read some of the text links above the tables was bothering me. I use those a lot when I'm on a proboards site. I've started adblocking your background image after I've gotten a good glimpse of it. I just wanted you to know I solved my problem, but that I am looking at an altered version of things.

I'm going to reveal a fact. The strain on my eyes to read some of the text links above the tables was bothering me. I use those a lot when I'm on a proboards site. I've started adblocking your background image after I've gotten a good glimpse of it. I just wanted you to know I solved my problem, but that I am looking at an altered version of things. cfs Im sorry to hear that. I have tried changing the coloring of the text for those links to make them stand out. Unfortunately it changes the text for all the messages as well and it makes the messages appear very loud. I know exactly what links you are talking about and I sometimes use them myself, but I also can see just enough that I can make out most times where to place the pointer. Otherwise, Im mostly using the thread areas to click on to go to where I want. Its a tough call for me. Its hard for me to be unique. If I make a solid background, you could see the link easily, but then my board loses some personality in my opinion. Maybe if I was around for years and had a large clientel, it would mean less to me. As it is, I have come to like having the background. It is just a personal preference of mine and I realize it may come off as selfish. Some backgrounds I end up loving and others I feel so-so about. I do feel it gives a comic book feeling to my board and helps give it that focus. I also feel it makes me just a bit different. I really wish I could find a way to make the link text stand out. I really wanted to make it a bright red or something like that. I tried just a couple days ago to change the coloring. I tried many different colors for exactly that reason. And I could get the links to stand out. But the text in the message board was the same color and was nausiating. I hope Im not putting anyone off. It seems a catch 22 for me. Im hoping that just clicking on the thread areas is an appeasable work around. Perhaps I can dig further to see if there is a way I can change that text without affecting the message board text. (in the setups, it looks like a big no), but maybe I can research further. Seems like there is someplace in html, it can be done, but I dont know what that is yet.

Here is the heart of the problem. They pointed changable colors to just about everything, but they didnt point to the link area in question. They basically made it an extension of Text Color, which really blows in my opinion. I'd really love to keep text black and change the color of the links to be more easily visible. I find this very limiting to the problem. I cant have my cake and eat it to. I lose 1 for the other. Part of me wonders if we would get used to it if I changed the text color to something besides black? My feelings was it was too much. I couldnt find a color I was willing to live with wanting to see it everywhere. Black being neutral is perfect for the boards, but not for the links. Sucks balls this cant be seperated.

Believe me, I played hell getting the colors like they are on my board. I'm not wild about them, it's just that every time I tried to tweak them, I screwed them up beyond functionality. There might even be some horrible alternate schemes available.
You'll notice that the only web page where I use an image background is my treasury comics page. I lightened up up a lot before I'd use it. I also place most of the text in tables where there is no background image.
I prefer a more simplistic design. I prefer a faster loading page. I prefer that no web page extend more than you'd see reading a page and a half of office paper. There are statistical reasons for what I do also. If you read articles about web design, They point out info about what users do when they encounter a page. If it's too busy... they'll click away. If it's slow loading, they'll click away. Jullian Kennedy has a cover image thread at cpg. I'll avoid it 9 out of ten times I see it. I detest waiting for the images to load.
I'm tinkering with my board tonight. I need to go scale some things back...
