Saw Speed Racer in IMAX. Wow! That movie sucks! Stupid colors. Stupid race tracks. Constant blur. Reflections on top of blurs. 50 million flashbacks. Action too fast to figure out what is going on
Almost a 100% clinch for a crappy movie is either flashbacks within flashbacks or strings of consecutive flashbacks. If this movie didn't have both, I know it at least had strings of flashbacks. That is annoying.
The actors played it straight 70% of the movie, then jumped into character at odd times.
It's like they made a serious movie with campy colors, and then tried to interject all the feel good stuff and manga influences where it was convenient.
The green screen superimposed images are a 20 year setback. They look horrible.
The ONLY thing that makes this watchable is the fact that Christina Ricci looks pretty good throughout.
One good fight scene exists with Racer X fighting a Ninja.... but why the hell are there Ninjas in Speed Racer? Whoever adapted this has no clue about why it was good. It has NOTHING to do with the Japanese roots of origin. The kid who plays Spritle is cast completely wrong. John Goodman is a poor cast choice. I'm not even so sure that the actor playing Speed Racer is a good choice.
I give the movie a 1 on a scale of 10.

Sounds like the only good thing this movie would be for would be to drop a hit of acid and watch. I was hoping for better. But, Ive never been a Speed Racer fan anyway.
