Watching Football tonight, I seen a preview for the Spirit movie. I wasnt sure what to think of it. It wasn't very revealing. It looked like a reserved commercial. Like they are not putting a lot into promoting this. So I dont know if it will be any good.
I will say this, even though Ive never had any, I've always loved Eisner's covers on The Spirit. Every time I see his art on this character, he looks like he was putting a lot into his work. I wish I owned a book or two to know for sure.

There are a lot of easily available reprints, and I would highly recommend any of them. As far as the movie, I imagine it is probably going to suck. From what I've seen, Miller is trying to make it into a Sin City clone. The Spirit as done by Eisner was a whole lot lighter in tone that Miller's Sin City stuff. I don't really see the need for this movie.

In Hollywood, you are only as relevant as your last big hit. Miller needed his name on something fast to keep the momentum going. I think it will suck also, but Eva Mendes being in it won't hurt ticket sales. The Spirit done by Eisner was fantastic.
