Im getting kind of nostalgic over the fact that overall post #1000 is nearing. Its not a major accomplishment by any means. But, looking back from were I started on July 14th having no idea how to do this. Well, its a milestone Im glad we made it to.
True that I did write half the posts. I was hoping we would get to 1000 before I got to 500. (I was hoping that). But, it just didnt work out. But it was close. The maker of this message board (proboards) has an awesome message board catering to Admins like myself. They blow vf.com away in total # of posts and that is saying something because I think vf.com is approach 400,000 posts. Well, proboards has a dude that has over 100,000 posts all by himself!
And overall, they are well above 1 million total posts. Thats tight.
Anyway, they have good message threads were some admins go and whine or complain about how slow their board is. And Ive seen a few say "hey, at least for the beginning if not forever, plan on being the most major contributor of posts. Expect if you are starting from scratch, to put in at least 50% of the posts if not a lot more".
Well, I think that puts things in perspective for me. I wish the board had more posters and self creators of threads and all. But, Im happy and appreciate whoever stops by and drops a post even if it is only every now and then. Any contribution is a contribution. I hope one day the total # of posts on here will make a visitor stop by and see this board is somewhat established with plenty of posts to look through and decide to stay and add their own posts. Certainly I hope it eventually grows. But, Im still in it for the long haul and will just keep plodding along and doing what I can to keep it going.
I will say me and Underdog have been discussing behind the scenes ways to expand the board and make it more than just a message board. Sure the message board will be the main focus. But, we are currently looking at ways to tack on other pages to this board. Not sure if it can be done (Underdog thinks it can) or how long it will take (never done it, so I'll have to learn). But, its in the earliest of stages of being looked into. I feel that if we are able to do just that, it will make the board a lot more appealing to come and look around and hopefully post and stay awhile.
Im doing the best I can with it. Thats all I can say. And, Im happy so far. It could be better, but it could be a LOT worse. Thanks to Underdog once again for being someone I could count on for constructive thoughts and contributions behind the scenes.
