You know when I think about it, there has never really been a contender for the NFL. As far back as I can remember. The WFL, The USFL, CFL, AFL, XFL and the Europian League too. It just doesnt seem to work. And I have never personally given my thought to anything other than NFL football. The rest is just little league. The AFL just shut down the 2009 season in hopes of surviving and coming back in 2010. That looks grim. Perhaps some of those players end up in these leagues.
Between the two, I like the UNGL better. I like how it keeps basically the same rules as NFL and keeps it the same exact game. I also like it that it starts in March and it's season is over by the Draft. Gives players a chance to show off. The other league playing at the same time as the NFL seems like the kiss of death to me.
I havent read a whole lot, do these guys have tv packages?
Between the 2, like I said I like the UNGL better. But I consider both a real longshot. It hasnt worked as long as Ive been alive. So we'll see.

The old American Football League merged with the NFL, of course, so it did work once in professional football. The NHL accepted four WHA teams. The NBA took on I believe 4 ABA teams. I don't think it's ever worked in baseball as far as eventually forcing a merger or consolidation. Not sure about the tv packages. I haven't read much on the new leagues either.
