I got my son an XBox 360 for Xmas, its one of the few game systems he doesnt already have. He then got some gift cards from his aunts for Game Stop and off he went and bought Halo 3.
Now, Im not a big time gamer anymore. I used to be in my younger days and I still play occasionally, I set up an account on his Xbox and Ive been playing games on it every few days. Its a nice system and the graphics and game play on the system is very nice. I enjoy it. Im just not one to sit down for 10 hrs at a time day after day like I might have done say 10 years ago.
Anyway, he pays like $60 for this Halo 3, well at least in giftcard cash. And he brings it home and I already knew this was one of the most hyped games of last summer. And it takes him like 2 days to defeat it. And he wasnt even on the Xbox that much. We actually hooked it up to my plasma tv in the living room, so its not like he gets hours and hours like game systems in his room.
Im like $60 and he beat it in 2 days??? WTF!!! To top matters off, Ive been playing it and I must admit, its a lot more difficult for me than it is him, but Im progressing. But to be honest, I dont find it all that fun. Its kind of just a mindless shooter.
Yes, there are some good things about it. If you want all out action and battles, youve got it. The graphics are pretty cool too, but I have to admit to being let down by them because they seem cheesy to me. Something about the way the game looks I dont like. But when I let my mind get away from that, I have to admit, it still looks pretty good. I just thought it would look even better.
But its just mindless which makes it not very fun to me. I need more than to run into a room and shoot everyone I see. I need a character I like and a good story wouldnt hurt either. And blended in with some adventure and even some mind bending puzzles or figure outs. Im just not getting it with this. All Im getting is run into the room and blow up everyone you can. And its leaving me thinking this game was way overhyped.
If you ask me, Id give it
2 out of 5 stars.
Im disappointed in it.
