This quote, presumably recent, is in this article via Fortune Magazine.
Here's a secret about comics that has been hiding in plain view amid all the cinematic hoopla: At Marvel Entertainment (MVL), the industry's largest player, revenues for its print wares have been growing in double digits for the past three years and profit margins have been running at close to 40%. Plenty of magazine, book or newspaper publishers would put on a mask, cape or even giant bunny ears if that's what it took to generate those kinds of numbers – especially right now.

The article contains some talk about digital comics taking over and comics not surviving much longer. I remember they were saying comics won't survive much longer in the mid-nineties as well.

If and when this ever happens, I will just be a back issue collector of REAL comics at that point. I wont give a damn about what is happening in current comics. It will all be about the past to me then. Comics aint comics if I cant hold it, read it anywhere including sitting on a toilet pinching loaves and then being able to bag and board them and have them sit in a collection. That's just something you cant get with online comics. 85% of what makes comics awesome is the chase and capture of ownership. You take that away, you might as well watch tv.
