It's been a real long time since Ive been to this store. Probably before my last long hiatus from comics in 1997. So, my memories of this store come with this disclaimer that I havent been there in probably at least 12 years. Im not even sure the store is still there. So correct me if I am wrong. But I believe it still exists.
Why bother if I havent been there in 12 years? Well, there was one thing this store was notorious for back in the day. I have no idea if it continued. The man owned a decently large store. Its about the size of an old retail clothing store. Say a regular sized T J Maxx. So it was quite large. It was also fairly neat and clean. It was a fun store to look around. You could literally take a trip around the store. Plenty to look at. Also, he had a generally nice collection of comics from just about any company, genre or era which made it a real cool place to visit.
The part that is the problem and what made the store noteworthy is his prices were sky high. It was astonishing to see how this guy operated. He literally is within 5 miles of reasonably priced and decent selection Benders and yet he was the king of high prices back in my days of going there.
Now being its been a dozen years or so since Ive been there, Im perfectly willing to come back to this store and give it another shot. There really was a lot I actually did like about the store. And since there was so many comics, I could eventually find a few comics I wanted at a respectable price. Mostly the offbeat and obscure stuff I couldnt find elsewhere and most people didnt want anyway. So those you might get a decent price on it. But if the book was hot or had any significance at all. Man, you'll have to fork it over to get it. And I dont remember him giving much slack if you asked him to either.
So in closing, Id certainly be happy to visit again, but hope his pricing has cooled and if so, he could actually be a good store.
