I wanted to post about this when he was being dumped by Dallas, but I guess I was a little preoccupied to accomplish that. How many people besides me think it's kind of unreal that T.O. is now in Buffalo? I remember being a bit shocked by him being released by Dallas. Certainly its justified and there have been a lot of grumblings in Dallas about T.O. for awhile, but still, he seemed so much like a Dallas icon and was still a rather productive player, with him seeming to have the identity of the Cowboys (a team I hate), I was really shocked to see them let him go. Although I am no fan of his at all, I kind of wished my team (The Redskins) would have picked him up for a few reasons. 1, I dont think my team has much of a receiving corp and he would have added a downfield threat to our rather lacking arsenal. 2, T.O. has an incredible ability to not only not get along with quarterbacks but to expose them if they cannot get him the ball. I have to say my quarterback (Jason Campbell) sucks. Ive read in other forums and I agree, that word is, a bomb to Campbell is a 15 yard pass. So having T.O. around would have made him either throw the ball long or T.O. would expose him for the fraud he is. Which in my case is fine by me because I think our Quarterback sucks. So, as much as I wouldn't normally be interested otherwise, I found it intriguing to maybe go after him although I did doubt my team would and they didn't.
But it has to be a shocker seeing him end up in Buffalo! That was even more shocking to me than his release. I would have been less shocked if he went to the Raiders or even the lowly Lions. At least with the Lions he could have been someone who a whole town could have seen as someone who is a playmaker next to their only other star, who is also a wide receiver (I forget his name, but he is the Lions best player). The Lions could have been optimistic for a few wins with T.O. The dis-functional Raiders are known to take former problematic stars towards the end of their years and keep their star burning ever so slightly longer. I can think of plenty other teams where I can see T.O. going and looking right in the spot and making an impression on the team and their fans. But the Bills?
I just don't see it. He went from glamor team to barely visible team. Hollywood starlet trolling team to working class groupies only team. Warm weather domed high profile Monday Night football to Outdoors in the cold with a team of virtual unknowns. Playing even a game in Canada while no one even cares.
T.O. is known to be good for year #1 of a contract. And this is only a 1 year deal. Can he keep himself from being a problematic distraction and make the Bills a better team and be elsewhere a year from now or will he single handily destroy another teams chemistry and have the Bills and their fans wishing they never heard of T.O.
Is this a good move to you?
