I have been to many comic shops. I have seen and smelled some of the nastiest things in a few of them. NOTHING compares to this shop. NOTHING!
As I drive up I can already tell it's going to be one of those hole in the wall stores. I just wish a hole would open up and swallow this place whole. I walk in and right away the perfume of wet dog and dirty socks hits you. The carpet is full of stains. Drinks all over the place. There are a few gaming tables. No one is playing though. The owner of the store is sitting at a computer playing some WOW or something. I take a glance around and all he has are new comics and tpbs. The smell is getting worse. I walk over to where his tpbs are and I look behind me. There behind a curtain I see it. A dog. And not only a dog but a sofa, fridge, microwave, tv, clothes, blankets, and more shit. The dude is living in a make shift room in his store! I tell the guy I am ready to go and I have to wait to ring up because he is in the middle of some fucking fight in his game. He runs over to me finally and rings me up. Dude isn't even wearing any shoes! Just his dirty ass socks. I try and ask him a question about the lame books he has on the wall but he runs back to his game before my entire question is out. I bail. Amazingly not throwing up.

What a horrible story! It amazes me how some dealers operate this way. I don't know why, but what other business can you think of where dirtiness is sometimes almost accepted? I would say clean stores amount to about 30-40% of the stores I go to. It's shocking! And the ones that are clean are ones I have a hope will do well. What's bad is some of my favorite stores are on the dirty side, so I put up with it just so I can look for deals. What is intolerable is a dirty store with nothing to offer as far as books are concerned. I mean, if you're going to have a dirty store, you need to make up for it by being worth it to be there. I honestly have been grossed out a few times looking at comics. I just don't understand it. Why do we have this stigma about comic collectors and stores and people who both frequent as well as run stores not being on the clean side? It really gives our hobby a very bad name. How can we expect the other side to get into it when this is how its represented?
I'm glad you gave such an honest review Az! This is exactly the kind of review Im looking for to be on here. I know every time I go to a store and its not one already listed, I am going to put up what my honest impressions are of the store.
I just would love to see this section grow. I feel it could be an awesome section especially with more people posting stores in their local area. It could be something to make Comic Crack something that stands out! And not only do we want to hear the bad things but the good ones too. Each thread can be updated however you feel fit or however you feel something is newsworthy. Id like to see this section in 10 years. Im not taking it down. This is a section I want to see grow.
Thanks again for the review Az! ;D
