Have anyone heard about Wonder Woman's "new" origin which is supposed to be the reason for the new costume. You mean they have to change her origin to justify that horrid costume change? Oy! I'm afraid so, or at least that is what I gathered reading reports, spoliers, reviews, and opinions on the net, so please take it with a grain of salt. Apparently a mysterious villain went back in time and blew up Paradise Island when she was still a baby and apparently someone else saved Diana before the Island was destroyed and brought and/or raised her (I'm not sure which) in a city on the main land. The change is supposed to represent her being raised in the city and her not being really aware or even caring about her Amazon/Greek roots. Some people also saying that is that she is now a fugitive on the run as well (at least the last part IF true then the costume makes some sense) is also said to be part of the reason. Basically if true then it's the ugly offspring of Superman's origin story, The Fugitive, and of Spider-Man: One More Day.

I did a Google search on Joan Jett all I found was female rock star that I've never heard of, (I don't pay much attention to music anymore) and so I don't get your reference or joke. Sorry. The number one reason DCE did this is: MONEY. Wonder Woman doesn't sell very well, (hell one could say that book has never been a big seller for DCE ever) so DCE did the things that they knew would drive sales up, a new costume, a new origin story, and new writer. While it might have worked in the short term the real question is after all the hype dies down will the sales stay where #600 is or will they go down after JMS finished his story and/or leaves the book. The second reason is PR. Wonder Woman needs some PR too help drive interest in a potential movie (if one ever gets made). DCE is thinking that there is no such thing as bad PR (I don't think is true especially after the BP oil spill in Gulf of Mexico but that is a different subject), so as long fans and non-comic book fans are talking about Wonder Woman they see this as a "win" unless the sales go down even more on the book.

Man, that's the 2nd time in recent weeks someone mentioned a rock star and said "who's that" and it made me feel old as shit. The previous time someone was talking about Tom Petty. I didn't think it would be so much of a stretch, but I was making the comparison to former member of "The Runaways" and all around rock bad girl Joan Jett who was well known for wearing skin tight pants and leather jackets. In some ways the new Wonder Woman seems to remind me of this old 80's bad girl look. I think it looks better on female rock stars than it does on female comic characters.

Fuck. That pic of J.J. is perfect. Mess with the colors and add a few extras and you have Wonder Woman.
also GW I wa not saying anything as negative regarding what you were saying about Ross. I actually like his Wonder Woman. Especially when she wears the loincloth version. I just feel that the design in the photo that you unlike me was un-lazy enough to post is a much better thought out version of the classic uniform.

Fuck. That pic of J.J. is perfect. Mess with the colors and add a few extras and you have Wonder Woman. That's what I was getting at. I almost wonder if they got the idea for the uniform off of Joan Jett. Geeze you put a Wonder Woman headpiece on top of Joan Jett's hair and you're 3/4ths there already. also GW I wa not saying anything as negative regarding what you were saying about Ross. I actually like his Wonder Woman. Especially when she wears the loincloth version. I think me and you share the same opinion on Ross's version of Wonder Woman. I was just busting your balls because you were telling me that wasn't the "original" version. I was thinking you should give me a little credit because I was aware of that. But that aside, the uniform Ross drew had been tweaked to perfection. If they was going to revamp, just keep tweaking that one. Shit, they did a complete change of concept. I understand it gains attention and makes sales spike. But it's too short sighted. I can't see this being anything more than a couple months blip. Then back to the same (or even less) numbers. I just feel that the design in the photo that you unlike me was un-lazy enough to post is a much better thought out version of the classic uniform. That much I wholeheartedly agree with. If they had went in this direction, I would be totally fine with it. It at least respects the 70 year history of Wonder Woman. Whether she is a good seller or not, the fact she is still around after all this time needs to be respected. I mean, if we are just making changes to spike sales, why don't we just put Spider-Man in a gay pride Rainbow colored Uniform and call it a day.
