Thought I would make a new area which characterize the joys of dumpster diving. I personally always take dumpster dives as a source of pride. With 98% of what you're looking at truly junk, it always feels fantastic to cherry pick the best a dumpster has to offer. Looking forward to seeing what others have found from the crypts of the dumpsters and please, lets post those comic gems (or shiny nuggets of gold) amongst the rubble of decay and death.

Thought I would post some of the nice pick ups I got from Charlotte for $1 or less. For starters, let's start with this forever and maybe even now...piece of crap! Blip #1. Which seemed to want to catch onto the wave sweeping the nation at the time and that was video games! Yes, pinball machines were sadly on their way out only to be replaced by these joystick and video imaged games which a couple of years before the best of was that now screen burning classic "Pong". It was clear that Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, Tron, Defender, Galaga, Burger Time and a host of many others were sweeping the nation. And me too. At the time this comic came out featuring Little House on the Prairie co-star playing Tron on the cover. Immediately and forever reduced to instant trash, to have any desire to own this comic would have you look crazy. But now 26 years later, it still makes you look crazy. But I dont care. Now its cool. Because now its "How many of you guys own this?"!!!! Rom seems to be borderline crap to most people, but I have to admit having a real love for it for like the 1st 30 issues and then I burned out on it. It was a fun read. But it began to look a bit desperate when you had to drag the X-Men into it to bring up interest. Granted, #18 is a far superior and sweet cover. I'd still classify #17 as highly desirable just because it featured the beginning of the X-Men saga. My Atlas collection is getting closer and closer to being a series of comics I need to work on finishing off. And little by little, the pieces come into place. I'm probably like most people who pick up Atlas and refuse to pay much for them. But I also feel like it is a shame they didn't get much love. A lot of them are truly sweet. And they were a rather fun batch of comics for such a brief period of time. I consider myself a fan. And I'm an even bigger fan when I can get the following 2 that I needed for a buck a piece. Okay, it's no big deal to get this cheap. I'm sure you get similar stuff on your dives. But still, when I see comics like this for $1 in nice shape, who am I to bypass them? Sure $5-$10 is about tops you could ever expect to get. Truth is, after the mini-series this is the 1st true #1 of his ongoing series and is now over 20 years old. Picking these up for $1 just ain't a bad deal. True, I already have a couple. But it's just too good of a bargain to pass up for $1. I could do way worse buying a brand new comic at cover price costing 3-5 times more. Either this book is over-valued, under-loved, over-looked, or not understood. For a longtime even I didn't know that this ties for a 1st appearance of the black costume with Amazing Spider-man #252 which at times goes for decent bucks in good shape. And yet, here is this one here and I'm snagging it for $1. What's more amazing to me, is it's the 2nd time I've done so in the last year or two. Okay, maybe it just isn't worth anything and the other 1st appearance will always get the notoriety. Even still, it's stuff like this that I'll gladly take a chance on adding to my collection for the $1 pricetag. Can't tell you how many lottery tickets I lost out on at $1 a piece. This comic here seems like it will always manage to assure I will at least got out of it what I put into it and possibly could bring more down the road. Not counting on it. But who cares, it seems almost impossible that I won't get at least my dollar back should I ever decide to part with it.

I quit shopping in dollar boxes a couple of years ago. I did pick up a Birth of the Defiant Universe #1 for a dollar awhile back.
